Notes<br />

The pressure pad is used to support the nozzle/<br />

manifold against the cavity plate. It is made of<br />

titanium steel which guarantees excellent insulating<br />

properties and minimal heat loss. The<br />

standard pressure pad comes in 12 mm size.<br />

To secure the measurement “K” required for<br />

the heat expansion of the manifold the customer<br />

has to grind the pressure pad to the required<br />

dimension.<br />

After thorough testing and analysing,<br />

<strong>GÜNTHER</strong> <strong>Hot</strong>-<strong>Runner</strong> Engineering has<br />

decided not to fit any metal O rings into nozzles,<br />

connecting pieces, connecting nozzles and<br />

hot-runner systems. This regulation does not<br />

apply to the “NEST/ NEST1” single valve-gate<br />

nozzles, for which a metal O ring is essential.<br />

The frequency of damage due to incorrectly<br />

fitted metal O rings outweighs their ability to<br />

prevent overmouldings of hot-runner systems.<br />

Please note that metal O rings can still be<br />

fitted into nozzles and hot-runner systems if<br />

the customer so wishes but the leakproofness<br />

of the hot runner will not be<br />

guaranteed in that case.<br />

Insulating caps<br />

Notes<br />

Insulating caps of PEEK are used in applications with carbon fiber filled<br />

polymers, as well as metal fiber and metal powder filled polymers. It is<br />

recommended to use insulating caps when processing thermally sensitive<br />

plastics, e.g. PVC, or in applications with frequent color change.<br />

The caps are heat resistant up to 350 °C.<br />

* When using an insulation cap 817.185 for nozzles type 5_MF and<br />

5_TT2 a redesigned gate area is required.<br />
