NUTRITION THROUGH THE TIME - LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME COMENIUS<br />

3rd trip: LITHUANIA<br />

Ingredients:<br />

2 kilos of raw potatoes, peeled and grated<br />

4 cooked potatoes<br />

2 tablespoonfuls of cornstarch<br />

3 onions, finely chopped<br />

salt and pepper to taste<br />

500 g. ground meat (beef, pork, or a mixture of<br />

both)<br />

Cooking Instructions:<br />

Get rid of <strong>the</strong> excess water in <strong>the</strong> grated potatoes<br />

mixture. In to <strong>the</strong> mass of <strong>the</strong> grated potatoes put<br />

some salt, minced boiled potatoes, starch and mix<br />

it well, so that you can get soft and solid<br />

mixture.Add 3 finely cut onions to <strong>the</strong> pork ground<br />

meat, salt it, and add spices.<br />

Put a large stockpot of water on to boil. To form <strong>the</strong><br />

zeppelins, take about 1 cup of dumpling mixture<br />

and pat it flat in <strong>the</strong> palm of <strong>the</strong> hand. Place 1/4 cup<br />

or more of meat mixture in <strong>the</strong> center and, using<br />

slightly dampened hands, fold <strong>the</strong> potato mixture<br />

around <strong>the</strong> meat into a football shape, sealing well.<br />

Continue until both mixtures are gone.<br />

Carefully lower dumplings into salted, boiling<br />

water. Make sure water returns to <strong>the</strong> boil and<br />

continue boiling for 25 minutes.<br />

Stir carefully. Remove dumplings, drain briefly on a<br />

clean dish towel and place on a heated platter. You<br />

can use with different kinds of gravy or sour cream.<br />

Ingredientai:<br />

Bulvės, 2 kg. nuskustos, sutarkuotos<br />

4 virtos bulvės<br />

2 arbatiniai šaukšteliai krakmolo<br />

3 smulkiai pjaustyti svogūnai<br />

Druska, pipirai<br />

Prieskoniai<br />

500g kiaulienos(jautienos) faršo<br />

Paruošimas:<br />

Į sutarkuotų, išspaustų bulvių masę įdėti druskos,<br />

krakmolo,virtų maltų bulvių ir gerai maišyti tol, kol<br />

susidarys elastinga masė.<br />

Įdėkite vieną, smulkiai pjaustytą svogūną į<br />

kiaulienos faršą, pasūdykite ir įdėkite prieskonių.<br />

Į didelį puodą įpilkite vandens ir jį užvirinkite.<br />

Po to, iš gautos masės tarp delnų formuokite<br />

pailgus pyragėlius, į jų vidų įdėkite kiaulienos faršo<br />

ir kraštus gerai užspauskite. Dailinkite tol ,kol faršo<br />

nesimatys.<br />

Atsargiai sudėkite cepelinus į verdantį, pasūdytą<br />

vandenį ir virkite apie 25 minutes, maišydami<br />

atsargiai ir lėtai. Išimkite,nuvarvinkite is sudėkite į<br />

pašildytą dubenį. Galima valgyti su įvairiais<br />

padažais arba grietine.
