Tennessee Lady Vols

Overall: 7-0 (3-0 Home, 2-0 Away, 2-0 Neutral)

SEC: 0-0 (0-0 Home, 0-0 Away)

TEAM NOTES: The No. 3/4 Lady Vols ran their record to 7-0 on

the season, winning a pair of games last week and capturing the

championship of the Lucaya Division at the Junkanoo Jam tournament

in Freeport, Bahamas. Tennessee overcame a four-point

halime deficit to take care of Virginia in the opening round,

76-67, and then blew past previously-unbeaten SMU, 87-47, in

the tle game. UT juggled its lineup prior to the contest vs. the

Mustangs, sending out forward Bashaara Graves, center Isabelle

Harrison, guard Meighan Simmons, guard Ariel Massengale and

guard Andraya Carter (in place of forward Cierra Burdick). That

unit responded by sending the Lady Vols into the first media break

with a 15-5 advantage, reversing the trend of slow starts UT had

been plagued by early this season. Simmons, who averaged 20

points per contest in the tourney, was named MVP, and Massengale

joined her on the all-tournament team aer averaging 13

points, nine assists and three rebounds per game in the Bahamas.

Simmons produced the highest point total by an SEC player this

season, tying her career high with eight three-pointers en route

to 32 points vs. UVa. That mark was the second-best output of her

career behind a 33-point outburst vs. UNC last season. Massengale,

meanwhile, ed an SEC high this season with a career-best

13 assists vs. UVa. Graves carded her third double-double of the

season and the 13th of her career against SMU, tallying 10 points

and 10 boards for the Big Orange. She also helped UT limit SMU

to 26.3% shoong from the field, the lowest allowed by the Lady

Vols this season. Tennessee faces one game this week, with Texas

coming to town for a 1 p.m. Sunday matchup that will be televised

on FOX Sports Net South/FOX Sports Tennessee/MyVLT.
