Micro-FAST: quick fittings, quick results
Pump station
The pump station consists of an anti-icing fluid
tank, pump and electronic control unit. It is
flexibly designed and can be optimised for all
local conditions.
Control unit
The Micro-FAST control unit
monitors and controls the entire
Micro-FAST system:
· Solenoid valve controller in
the valve units
· Monitoring the hydraulic
circuit (pump control, pres
sure and flow rate)
· Monitoring the electrical circuit
(short or open circuits)
· automatic refilling of the
tank
· Release of spray programs
manually, by PC or by GFS

High voltage power
cabinet
The entire system is powered
from the main feed in the
high current cabinet. This
cabinet feeds the required
supply voltage to all electrical
components.
Flow meter
The flow meter is used to
compare a calculated value
with the actual value of the
amount of anti-icing used
during a spray program.
This allows any leaking or
defective points in the circuit
to be detected and immediate
measures taken.
Pump
The vertical stainless steel
rotary pump pressurizes any
liquid anti-icing with a maximum
operating pressure of
16 bar
Tank monitoring
The anti-icing fluid tank is
fitted with a float and an
ultrasound sensor. The
float switches the pump
off, if the level falls below
the minimum. The ultrasound
sensor displays the
current level as a percentage
on the PC in the control
center. It also provides
an alarm if the content of
the tank is too low and
gives an acoustic and
visual alarm when the
maximum level is reached
during filling.
Pressure monitor
The pressure monitor constantly
checks the pressure
in the spray circuit. When
the system is inactive, it is
checked hourly or against
programmable cycles.
De-icer tank
The dimensions of the
storage tank will be calculated
from the number
of jet-sticks and transportation
characteristics
(a heavy duty truck) of
the anti-icing liquid.

A protective layer of anti-icing liquid is applied in a very short time. (All done in about 50 seconds).

Spray profiles
Spray profiles are supplied in
rolls of 100 m ready for installation.
The distance between
the jet-sticks is 5 meters
The spray profile is assembled
in the factory and tested for
perfect operation.
Two nozzles are integrated in
each jet-stick and the angle
between them can be customized
to the project. The spray
profiles resist to all anti-icing
media, ultraviolet light, temperatures
to -40°C and are weatherproof.

Benefits compared
with conventional
spray systems are:
• fine, non-interfering spray
• Spraying time adjustable between 30 seconds and
3 minutes (30 seconds provide the equivalent of 2 g/m 2
of salt)
• Only one solenoid valve every 100 m, hence lower
installation and maintenance costs
• Installed flush in the center of the carriageway

Installation
Smallest installation costs thanks
to reduced dimensions. The
depth of only 40 mm also allows
the spray profile to be fitted on
bridge decks or armoured concrete
pavement…
Special compound is used to fix
the spray profile in the pavement.

the drivers, because the
liquid is spread as a mist.
The traffic distributes the
anti-icing liquid immediately
over the entire road surface.
A spray profile is used to
spray both lanes over the full
width.
