Important Information Application Process Completed applications must be received no later than Feb 1st, and should include: • Resume (reverse chronological format) • Appropriate Dietitians of Canada application forms • Three (3) confidential reports/reference letters (one report/reference must be academic) • Transcripts from ALL post-secondary education • Personal letter of application Completed applications can be sent to: Administrative Assistant Professional Affairs Hamilton Health Sciences Room 104 Southam Building Chedoke Hospital Sanatorium Road Hamilton, Ontario L9C 1C4 Selection Process Applications are carefully reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of 4-6 Registered Dietitians. Application Packages will be evaluated based on evidence of: • overall academic standing • leadership skills • team/group communication skills • self-directed learning skills/initiative • ability to work independently A short-list of candidates will be selected for a group interview, to be held in mid-February. Expenses: • registration fee (set annually) • Dietitians of Canada student membership • Professional liability insurance (available through Dietitians of Canada) Access to Vehicle: Interns complete rotations at each of Hamilton Health Sciences’ five sites. As travel between hospital sites and placements is often necessary to attend educational events and meetings, many students find it to be an asset to have access to a vehicle, however all sites are accessible by public transit. Income Tax Receipts: The Dietetic Internship Program at Hamilton Health Sciences has been designated as an Education Institution by Human Resources Development Canada. This designation allows HHS to issue T2202a tax receipts, so that interns can claim the “tuition and education amounts” on their tax returns.
