Sanitary System S 01 | News 

The HEWI S 01 product line is a complete system, 

which integrates multiple product functions into a 

single, flat, vertical surface in elevation. The result is 

washbasin, WC and shower modules with enclosed, 

fold-out functions. 

The modules are available in natural aluminium 

or translucent synthetic material in different 

colours – additional materials and colours are 

possible. 

Site installation conditions must be checked for 

this product.

The contemporary streamlined style of the Series 805 sanitary 

products ensure clarity in sanitary facilities. High quality stainless steel, partly 

in combination with polyamide, provides a quality product image in projects.

These products have been designed specifically for use in public areas and therefore take 

into account in particular the high demands of nurseries, schools, hospitals, doctors’ 

surgeries etc. 

Planning 

Clear and comprehensible tables allow for an easy match-up of available space, 

space requirement and the HEWI product range. 

Delivery 

HEWI supplies pre-assembled components, coat and towel rails up to a max. length 

of 2.70 m. 

Installation 

Wall-mounted cloak rails are easily installed with the HEWI MV1.245 installation kit. 

Hook distances 

The following standard applies to HEWI products: 

200 mm for benches and cloak rails with hat shelf and 150 mm for coat and towel rails. 

If in doubt, distances should be agreed with the local planning authorities. 

Recommended installation height for cloak rails is: 

Nursery 1200 ± 100 mm 

Primary school 1400 ± 100 mm 

Secondary school 1600 ± 100 mm 

Recommended installation height for washrooms is:

900 ± 100 mm 

Safety 

Cloakrooms must be designed in such a way as to exclude in as 

far as is possible the risk of injury. Rounded elements and enclosed 

fixtures reduce the risk of injury. HEWI cloakrooms fulfil these 

conditions and are tested for enhanced requirements in nurseries or 

schools according to GS (certified safety standards) in accordance 

with current regulations.

Accreditations for comfort and quality 

This is not a matter of course: 

we have had our fittings for living 

without barriers tested independently 

in a standard procedure by the 

Society for Gerontology (Gesellschaft für 

Gerontotechnik – GGT), and the 

Rheinland-Pfalz Technical Safety Body 

(TÜV). A decisive factor is the characteristics 

of use of the individual elements. 

The aim is the applicability for use by 

the disabled or elderly persons. This 

doesn't mean however that the award 

is only applicable in this area. What is 

deemed by some as necessary for people 

with restricted mobility, is found to be 

simply comfortable and user friendly by 

others. Good design also means good 

functionality. 

A result of our efforts in this area is the 

market leadership for fittings for 

'barrierfree living'. 

CE coding pursuant to the Medical 

Products Act 

Medical products are subject to 

directive 93/42 EEC and are 

legally required to be marked with 

the letters ‘CE’. The CE seal may only be 

used if the product in question has 

successfully completed the CE conformity 

evaluation procedure. The guarantee that 

safety standards are adhered to is, therefore, 

given in the case of HEWI marked 

products. 

GS-Tested 

Our cloakroom products are subject 

to voluntary testing. With HEWI you 

therefore acquire tested safety 

(and hence the GS abbreviation). For you 

this means: you can depend on HEWI products 

always satisfying the current safety 

standards and in most cases they even 

exceed them. 

Recycling 

A further advantage: our products can be 

recycled. To facilitate this, the different 

materials used are separated in an environmentally 

friendly process. Thereafter, 

the materials can be re-introduced into our 

production cycles. 

Simple installation and removal 

A good product must also offer good 

characteristics of use. However, every dish 

and every towel rail has a life before and 

after its use. At HEWI, we have given this 

some thought; our products are optimally 

packed for protection during transport.

systems, fitting and if required removal,

OHSAS 18001 ff 

HEWI's integrated management system was 

supplemented in 2006 to include certification 

of the company's health and safety 

management. OHSAS was developed by 

the British Standards Institution together 

with international certification companies 

analogous to the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 

standards. 

DIN EN 13485 ff 

Since 2006, HEWI has also had a quality 

management system certificate for medical 

devices, which includes design & development, 

manufacture and sale of barrier-free 

products as well as sanitary accessories 

with therapeutic and physical effect.

Material Characteristics, Care tips | General information 

Polyamide 

At HEWI, high quality, coloured synthetics 

are processed with great perfection. In 

addition, many products are strength ened 

by a steel core, which differentiates considerably 

original HEWI pro ducts from the 

numerous imitations. 

The synthetics used by HEWI do not fade, 

are hygienic, resistant to chemicals, have 

extremely good thermal and mechanical 

charac teristics and a long life. 

Special stainless steel 

Special stainless steel is the term used to 

denote a group of particularly non-corroding, 

hygienic steels. Only 1.4301 chromenickel 

steel to DIN EN 10 088 is good 

enough for our stainless steel products. 

The stainless steel we use has outstanding 

mechanical qualities in terms of, for 

instance, general strength, resistance to 

deformation and is non-corroding. 

The material's excellent resistance to corrosion 

is due to an invisible passive layer that 

forms when contact occurs with oxygen 

in the air. The layer reforms automatically 

whenever the product suffers mechanical 

damage. The surface finish is smooth and 

non-porous. Special stainless steel needs 

neither protective coating nor treatment of 

any kind, which is why nothing can get 

chipped, flake off or come loose even when 

subjected to extreme stress. Nor are there 

any places where dirt or micro-organisms 

can collect. 

Polyamide – care tips 

HEWI polyamide products are easy-care. 

Generally speaking, an occasional wipe with 

a damp cloth is enough. If, however, you 

feel you have to use detergents, you should 

take note of the following information. 

Only use detergents with a ph-rating of 

between 6 and 8. 

Detergents containing active substances 

such as phosphates, soap and tensides 

may be used. 

Detergents containing acids, alkalis, bleach 

or scouring agents may not be used. Nor 

should utensils with a scouring effect such 

as brushes etc. 

Usage of any detergent requires full compliance 

with the manufacturer’s instructions 

(concentration, soaking time etc.). 

Stainless steel – care tips 

Due to their smooth surface and high 

resistance to detergents and disinfectants, 

components made of non-corroding stainless 

steel are particularly easy to clean. An 

occasional wipe-down with warm water and 

a standard detergent is generally sufficient. 

Detergents with iron, acid or chlorine content 

are not suitable for cleaning purposes, 

as they allow foreign or ambient rust to 

form on the surface of the stainless steel. 

Scouring aids or detergents containing a 

scouring additive should also be avoided. 

It should also be noted that HEWI product 

surface finishes can be attacked and damaged. 

Our warranty does not cover damage 

occurring as a result of incorrect handling.
