General Scholarship Information
To be eligible for consideration, the following criteria
must be met:
Phase 1
Get more information at www.huntington.edu/horizon.
• Applicants must be a high school senior
• Must submit HU application of general
admission to Huntington University
• Obtain and submit the Horizon Scholarship
application
• Submittal of the FAFSA (Free Application
for Federal Student Aid) application is highly
encouraged.
Horizon Requirements
• Minimum GPA 2.9
• Minimum 900/SAT or 19/ACT
• Demonstrated student leadership through
YFC involvement
• 3 Letters of reference
• Written essays
• Proof of legal United States status
Submission Guidelines
All applications must be postmarked by January 30
(late applications will not be processed).
All scholarship recipients will be announced by the
beginning of March.

Horizon Leadership Program
It has become increasingly important to acknowledge
the truth of where we’ve been and where we’re
going. There is a swift diversity movement emerging
at Huntington University. During the last four
consecutive years, the university enrollment
figures reflect a rising student population. We have
over 30 international students from 15 countries,
undergraduate students come from 29 different states
and Puerto Rico, with promise for more growth.
A Statement of Purpose
As a collaborative effort of Huntington University and
Youth For Christ, the Horizon Leadership Program is
designed to attract and retain students of diverse racial
and ethnic backgrounds by providing educational,
leadership and ministry opportunities.
A cohort of 6 students from ethnically diverse
backgrounds will be selected on an annual basis
with the intent to facilitate an inclusive learning
environment. The scholarship assists students in
achieving their fullest potential by offering a financial
award that will cover all fees associated with tuition
and housing costs. (Scholarship recipients are
financially responsible for books, a $150 general
student deposit and miscellaneous lab fees for classes.)
Additionally, the cohort will be encouraged to be
involved in many campus activities that will contribute
to the CAPSS holistic development of each student.
We strongly encourage minorities to apply for this
scholarship.
In lieu of this movement, the launch of the Horizon
Leadership Program represents a catalyst for change
and a pivotal point in the history of Huntington. The
University and Youth for Christ have created a program
that will continue to enhance the cultural landscape of
HU’s campus. In becoming a model of diversity within
Christian higher education, Horizon defines a critical
component in the process of formulating intentional
strategies to support the cultural shift taking place at
Huntington.

Holistic Development Approach
We are committed to the development of the whole
person. The CAPSS approach seeks to integrate the
student into the existing fabric of Huntington by
providing support from staff and faculty. The model
