The objective of the <strong>Canterbury</strong> Local Environment Plan 2012 (LEP) Clause 5.9 ‘Preservation of trees or vegetation’ is to<br />
preserve the amenity of the area, including biodiversity values, through the preservation of trees <strong>and</strong> other vegetation. The<br />
LEP is supported by the <strong>Canterbury</strong> Development Control Plan 2012 (DCP).<br />
The DCP Part 6.7.1(i) states: A person must not ring bark, lop, prune, remove, injure or deliberately destroy any trees 5m<br />
in height or greater <strong>and</strong>/or with a trunk diameter of 150mm or greater measured 1.4m above ground level without a permit<br />
or development consent granted by the <strong>Council</strong>.<br />
A number of species are exempt from the LEP. For an exempt species list please go to our website or contact our <strong>Tree</strong><br />
Preservation Officer.<br />

A fee of $75 applies per inspection <strong>and</strong> must be paid by the applicant on submission of this application.<br />
Multiple trees at one property can be applied for under the one fee.<br />
