ECONOMIC

OUTLOOK

CONFERENCE:

SOUTH AFRICA WITHIN A

CHANGING AND CHALLENGING

GLOBAL ECONOMY

PARK HYATT JOHANNESBURG

191 Oxford Road, Rosebank

Johannesburg, South Africa

Please join Global Insight to hear perspectives from world-class experts on

the near- and medium-term risks facing the global economy. Global Insight’s

experts will address some of the challenges and opportunities facing the

South African economy against the backdrop of globalisation and increased

external participation.

The conference will systematically track the global economy, touch on the

prospects and risks in key emerging markets, comment on the medium-term

outlook for Africa, and position South Africa and the challenges it faces within

this broader economic framework.

With the global economy in the midst of a moderate slowdown, monetary

accommodation being gradually removed, and inflationary pressures

relatively benign, 2007 looks like yet another solid year for the global economy.

Key emerging markets continue to boom. Commodity prices, although still

high, have recently declined in response to reduced global demand.

This benign environment is not without risks, however. The geopolitical

situation remains tense, and the process of globalisation, while contributing

to economic growth worldwide, has created serious challenges for many

economies.
