Mechanistic insight and kinetics as a tool to evaluate the equivalence of high pressure high temperature treatment of
foods compared to conventional thermal technologies.
K.U.Leuven
Abstract: This project is focused on high pressure thermal processing of food matrices and consists of two PhD topics:(i) Understanding chemical
changes of plant based food matrices during high pressure high temperature processing.(ii) High pressure high temperature inactivation of bacterial
endospores: mechanistic and kinetic insights.
VUB in onderaanneming ikv het Collectief Onderzoeksproject Dal-en nachtdistributie.
Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Abstract: The aim of the project is to uncover the practical needs and trends within the field of logistics more specifically concerning off-peak and
nightdistribution by setting up pilot projects.
Development of novel yeast strains for bioethanol production with lignocellulose wastes as substrates: improvement of
inhibitor tolerance.
K.U.Leuven
Abstract: The general goal of this project is the genetic improvement of commercial yeast strains for tolerance against phenolic inhibitors present in
lignocellulose hydrolysates. A large collection of yeast strains will be screened for inhibitor tolerance and the best strains selected. The genetic
basis of inhibitor tolerance in these strains will be determined using novel technologies for polygenic analysis and the alleles identified will be
transferred to commercial bioethanol production strains to improve their inhibitor tolerance.
Auxin signalling mechanisms during lateral root initiation and their cross-talk with abiotic factors
Ghent University
Abstract: To get insight in the molecular mechanisms that are used by the plant to shape its root architecture in response to environmental factors
two 2 major strategies were selected. First, a profound study of lateral root priming will be performed. Secondly, we will investigate the influence of
abiotic stress conditions specifically on this phase of root branching.
