What you can expect
• Surveyors are available from an
early stage to work as part of your
design team. They can attend design
development meetings, offer options
and solutions on evolving designs
ensuring that all major issues are
resolved prior to submission of your
Building Regulation application.
• Surveyors are available to offer advice
on your design from the outset. This will
ensure valuable input during your design
development before you seek planning
permission. Key issues including site
access for the Fire Service, accessibility
and the number and location of
staircases and lifts can be agreed at an
early stage.
• A dedicated building control surveyor
to book in your application quickly.
• A dedicated project surveyor to work with
you throughout the project. For larger
projects this will be a Principal officer.
• A comprehensive response within
10 working days of the deposit of
your application.
• A staged payment of inspection fees
spread out throughout the
construction project.
• Same day site inspections from a locally
based team. On very large projects we
can base the surveyor on site.
• Short notice, evening and weekend
availability can be arranged.
• Strong ties with other parts of the
Council and the Fire Brigade.
• Ability to undertake the plan
examination process for projects
anywhere in England and Wales.

The team is made up of over twenty staff
holding degrees and qualifications in
construction, surveying, fire engineering,
sports venue safety and structural
engineering. Staff are kept up to date with
regular training programmes relevant to
their profession.
They have a thorough knowledge of the
locality and a full appreciation of customer
care. They are backed by a dedicated
Technical Support team and a daily duty
Surveyor.
