Summary: Taupō District Council would like to thank the <strong>Waikato</strong> Regional<br />
Council for being included in the preparation of this document. We are in general<br />
support of the draft <strong>Waikato</strong> Regional Public Transport Plan 2011-2021 as<br />
proposed in the document #1992878.<br />
Decision<br />
Comments noted. <strong>Waikato</strong> Regional Council appreciates your support and we<br />
look forward to working closely with Taupo District Council on the implementation<br />
of the PT Plan.<br />

Recommendation:<br />
Subject to any matters raised elsewhere in this submission, the draft <strong>Waikato</strong><br />
Regional Public Transport Plan be adopted.<br />
Submitter: 40 Waitomo Transport Project<br />
Matter: PTP11-40.1<br />
Summary: The Waitomo Transport Project was established in 2008 by the Te<br />
Kuiti Health and Welfare forum to identify and investigate public, community and<br />
leisure transport and access issues for the community.<br />
The agreed goals of the Waitomo Transport Project are:<br />
1. To advocate on behalf of the wider Waitomo community<br />
2. To establish relationships with key stakeholders<br />
3. To identify transport issues for the community<br />
4. To promote workable solutions<br />
The project included a provider survey and a public survey. Funding was<br />
secured from Trust <strong>Waikato</strong>, <strong>Waikato</strong> DHB and contributions in kind by the<br />
organisations involved in the project.<br />
And existing provider survey was carried out to establish what forms of public<br />
transport are available in the Waitomo District. Nineteen providers were<br />
identified as possibly having a transport component to their service, they were<br />
asked to fill out surveys about any transport they may provide. Results showed:<br />
• 4 provide public transport (commercial operators ie. Dalroys, Intercity)<br />
• Some services provide transport for their clients, or for public to health<br />
services ie CAB, WDHB Hospital bus<br />
• Local supermarket provides pensioner shopping transport<br />
• There are no services or businesses providing general public transport to<br />
