Step 1: Thread a yarn needle with about 2 yards of <strong>the</strong> yarn<br />
you'll be us<strong>in</strong>g for <strong>the</strong> project. Coil <strong>the</strong> clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e as shown<br />
(actually, <strong>the</strong> coil should be tighter...I made it loose to better<br />
illustrate.) Insert <strong>the</strong> needle through both thicknesses of <strong>the</strong><br />
clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

Step 2: Wrap <strong>the</strong> yarn tightly around <strong>the</strong> coil as shown to<br />
form a r<strong>in</strong>g; tie to secure, <strong>the</strong>n run <strong>the</strong> ends of <strong>the</strong> yarn under<br />
<strong>the</strong> wraps to hide<br />

Step 3: Attach yarn to <strong>the</strong> hook with a slip knot. Beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
<strong>the</strong> left of <strong>the</strong> uncoiled clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e, work 8-10 sc around <strong>the</strong><br />
r<strong>in</strong>g to cover.<br />
Step 4: Insert hook <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> first sc and under <strong>the</strong> uncoiled<br />
clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e.<br />
Step 6: Work<strong>in</strong>g each sc <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dicated st and around <strong>the</strong><br />
uncoiled clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e, work 2 sc <strong>in</strong> each sc around.<br />
Step 5: Complete sc. Do not jo<strong>in</strong> rounds; <strong>in</strong>stead, use a stitch<br />
marker to mark <strong>the</strong> first sc of each round. (I'm us<strong>in</strong>g p<strong>in</strong>k<br />
yarn for a marker.)<br />
Step 7: Cont<strong>in</strong>ue work<strong>in</strong>g sc <strong>in</strong> rounds, work<strong>in</strong>g around <strong>the</strong><br />
clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e and <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g each round (if you worked 8 sc <strong>in</strong><br />
step 3, <strong>in</strong>crease 8 stitches <strong>in</strong> every round. If you worked 10 sc<br />
<strong>in</strong> step 3, <strong>in</strong>crease 10 stitches <strong>in</strong> every round) until <strong>the</strong> piece is<br />
<strong>the</strong> desired size.<br />

Step 9: Cut clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e close to <strong>the</strong> last stitch. Knot yarn <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> back of <strong>the</strong> piece, <strong>the</strong>n run yarn needle under coils to hide<br />
yarn end.<br />
Step 8: Cut <strong>the</strong> clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e, leav<strong>in</strong>g 1" - 2" of unworked<br />
clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e exposed. Fasten off yarn, and cut <strong>the</strong> yarn, leav<strong>in</strong>g<br />
a 24" yarn tail. Thread <strong>the</strong> yarn needle with <strong>the</strong> yarn tail. Insert<br />
needle through <strong>the</strong> clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e, near <strong>the</strong> last sc, and <strong>in</strong>to<br />
<strong>the</strong> clo<strong>the</strong>sl<strong>in</strong>e of <strong>the</strong> previous round. Repeat 2 or 3 times.<br />
