Falls Educational Community
The Stow-Munroe Falls City
School District’s Five-Year
Plan was developed through
a collaborative effort over a
six-month period. Input was
received from community
members, parents, staff
members, students, Board of Education
members and administrators. The data
collected was prioritized and categorized
by administrators and board members at a
two-day retreat in the spring of 2006. Each of
the nine categories in the plan has a number
of action steps that will be completed over the
five-year period. During the summer of 2006,
district administrators selected the year of
implementation for each action step and the
person responsible for ensuring that each step
is completed. Annually, the Board of Education
and administrative team will meet and a
report on each action step implemented in the
past year will be reviewed. Recommendations
from the committee working on each step of
the plan will then be considered.
I’m confident that this comprehensive plan
gives our district a blueprint for the future to
continue the excellence from our schools that
we all have become accustomed to expect.
I invite community members, parents,
students and employees of the school district
to actively participate in this plan by joining a
committee or providing input to people
working on each action step. Your input is
both valued and welcome! Please contact the
Board of Education office at 330-689-5445 if
you wish to assist with a specific Action Step.
Yours Sincerely,
Russell D. Jones, Ed.D.
To be successful in anything in life you need a
plan. As a group, the Board and Administration
held meetings with the public and staff to
find out how we can keep the Stow-Munroe
Falls School District excellent today and
into the future.
The Strategic Plan covers everything in our
district for a period of five years. The plan is a
living document that will be able to react to
the needs of the district. This is another
example of how committed the Board and
Administration are to our excellent schools.
I encourage everyone to keep participating
in the constant updating of our plan. Together
as a team, we will continue to succeed.
Vision
To actively engage all learners in meaningful
experiences which enable them to acquire the
tools necessary to become productive,
responsible citizens.
Mission
The Stow-Munroe Falls City School District is
committed to teaching all students to the best
of their abilities and creating an environment
in which its members meet the highest
academic standards possible by:
■ Emphasizing real world problem-solving
■ Motivating students to assume positive
roles in society
■ Supporting community
and parent involvement
■ Modeling lifelong learning
risk-free environment.
■ A key purpose of schooling is to ensure that
each child, regardless of background, learns
to think, reason and use his or her mind well.
■ The school district is organized to encourage
children to use knowledge to solve problems
rather than passively absorb knowledge to
be used at some other time.
■ District-level staff supports initiatives from
the school buildings that are designed to
produce better results for students.
■ Teachers are viewed as leaders: their
primary job is to engage students in
