NATURE OF AGENCY/POPULATION SERVED
Connolly Counseling and Assessment is a group private practice that includes a
variety of mental health professionals including licensed psychologist,
psychiatrists, registered psychological assistants, LMFTs, LCSWs, career
counselors, interns and practicum students. Along with our dedicated office staff
and administration, we all work together to provide a variety of therapeutic
services to our clients including psychodiagnostic testing and psychiatric
evaluations. The practice has grown rapidly and offers a robust environment to
receive training and grow in a private practice model. Population served includes
individuals, couples, families, and groups ages ranging from 4 to 80 years old.
Presenting problems are primarily anxiety and depression, loss and grief, trauma,
and a multitude of life transitions. Demographics of clientele are representative of
the greater Los Angeles community as well as the surrounding communities
served. We have office locations in West Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles,
Claremont, Newport, Pasadena, Redlands, Chino, Encino and Beverly Hills.
Direct services include short- and long-term individual therapy, group therapy,
family therapy, and couples counseling, as well as psychodiagnostic
assessment. Indirect services include consultation and referrals as needed,
supervision, training, and paperwork. Paperwork is minimal, consisting of intake
evaluation forms and progress notes. Students may also participate in program
marketing and development. Total number of hours expected for the position is
18 hours per week, 10 hours direct and 8 hours indirect services.
There is no theoretical preference for students. Supervisors can help students
conceptualize and practice from a variety of orientations and intervention models,
including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family-systems, differentiation,
humanistic, existential, and solution-focused.
