SOCIAL CLUBS

Clubs offer students
opportunity to serve,
fellowship, develop
For 75% of the student body, the
social clubs were an avenue for
friendship, activity, and service. The
clubs - twenty for women, eighteen for
men, and one for married students -
met the needs of the individuals on and
off campus.
The year began with pledges being
subjected to the usual humility and
hardships and ended with most
agreeing that the lasting effects of the
pledge week were more beneficial than
detrimental. Club activities varied from
devotionals between brother and sister
clubs to service projects and participation
in the annual Spring Sing.
Luau held with brother club
A Delta Theta Hawaiian luau with their brother club, Alpha
Epsilon Chi, provided fun and fellowship for both clubs as well
as bringing happiness to the needy families in the city who
received the remainder of the roasted hog. The month of
December saw excitement as the members had a hayride -
Christmas party as one of their functions. Joint production of a
Spring Sing act entitled "The Toyshop" helped bring Delta
Theta and Alpha Epsilon closer together. Adopting grandparents
at Leisure Lodge, having a bunking party at Joe
Webb's Stables and canoeing on the Buffalo River all made
the year an exciting and eventful one.
Chi Sigs prepare calendar
Chi Sigs began the school year by assisting the female
students move in. Members enjoyed building a Homecoming
float with Regina, their sister club. Other brother·sister club
activities included Christmas caroling, joint devotionals and
participating in Spring Sing. The club aided the student body
by placing a school calendar in the Student Center to keep the
students informed of campus activities.
Spring break campaign held
In their third year of existance, King's Men set as their goal
new heights of spiritual development and closer fellowship
among members and their sisters in OEGE. Various events
beginning with a float trip early in the fall , collecting funds for
the Retarded Children's Drive, conducting church services,
and participating in the S.A. Toy and Dolly Drive filled the
year. Second semester members began meeting weekly in small
"life groups" composed chiefly of members of King's Men and
OEGE who spent their spring break evangelizing the campus
of Ohio State University.
Group holds Christmas banquet
For the first time the Tri Sigma pledges were called Tri Sig
Signals this year. Giving a Halloween party for the children at
the children's home in Conway was one of Tri Sigma's many
and varied activities this year. Christmas was a very special
time for the members as they had a formal party at
Wyldewood and again achieved 1000/0 participation in the
annual Toy and Dolly Drive. Participation in Spring Sing and
frequent devotionals with Theta Tau, their brother club,
helped promote closeness among the members.
