CONSTRUCTION DETAILS<br />
The luminaire consists of a onepiece<br />
die cast aluminium housing<br />
for the lamp and control gear.<br />
It is designed to operate tubular<br />
150/250/400W high<br />
pressure sodium lamps and<br />
250/400W metal halide lamps.<br />
SABS MARKS<br />
The luminaire bears the SANS 475<br />
mark and the SANS<br />
60598-2-5 safety mark.<br />
INGRESS PROTECTION<br />
The luminaire has a degree of<br />
protection that complies with SANS<br />
60598-2-5:<br />
Lamp Compartment: IP65<br />
Gear Compartment: IP65<br />
The IP rating is certified by a SABS<br />
test report.<br />
LUMINAIRE HOUSING<br />
• The housing is robustly<br />
constructed, weatherproof, hail<br />
proof, corrosion proof and vandal<br />
resistant.<br />
• It is manufactured from corrosionresistant<br />
die cast aluminium.<br />
• The hinged front glass covering<br />
the lamp compartment is heat and<br />
impact resistant, held to the lamp<br />
housing by two stainless steel<br />
screws and sealed by an<br />
extruded heat-resistant silicon<br />
gasket.<br />
REFLECTOR SYSTEM<br />
• Reflectors are manufactured from<br />
99.98% super pure deep<br />
anodized aluminium and are not<br />
subject to accidental misalignment.<br />
• Precision-designed reflector<br />
technology allows the radiating<br />
source to be adjusted in parallel to<br />
the illuminated area while the<br />
luminous flux is projected to the<br />
illuminated area asymmetrically at<br />
a peak angle of 67˚.<br />
LAMP HOLDER<br />
• Lamp replacement is facilitated<br />
through the hinged safety glass of<br />
the luminaire.<br />
• The lamp holder complies with<br />
VC 8011, is rated to withstand<br />
240˚C/5kV and prevents possible<br />
loosening of the lamp caused by<br />
vibrations.<br />
GEAR COMPARTMENT<br />
• The control gear compartment is<br />
separated for thermal reasons<br />
from the lamp compartment by<br />
means of a metal dividing plate.<br />
• Access to the gear compartment<br />
is gained by removing a separate<br />
die cast aluminium cover which is<br />
held by four captive stainless steel<br />
screws.<br />
• The gasket sealing the control<br />
gear compartment is made of<br />
silicon sponge and is fitted<br />
into a tongue-and-groove<br />
arrangement.<br />
• The control gear is mounted on a<br />
removable gear tray and is<br />
suitable for operation with the<br />
specified rating of the lamp on a<br />
230V +3%/-10% 50Hz single<br />
phase system.<br />
• All control gear components are<br />
removable and bear the relevant<br />
SABS mark.<br />
• Mains connections are by means<br />
of a suitable screw terminal block<br />
with a wire clamping contact.<br />
• Ignitors, where applicable, are of<br />
the superposed pulse type.<br />
• The luminaire is power factor<br />
corrected to a minimum of 0,9.<br />
MOUNTING<br />
• The luminaire is mounted by<br />
means of a bottom entry pole cap<br />
suitable for a 76mm diameter<br />
spigot.<br />
• The pole cap is manufactured<br />
from die cast aluminium and is<br />
bolted to the housing.<br />
FASTENERS<br />
• Inserted helicoils for the front glass<br />
access and the gear compartment<br />
prevent the corrosion of stainless<br />
steel screws to the aluminium<br />
housing.
