School spirit

Rostrevor College is a school built on the ethos and spirituality of Edmund Rice.

It offers a valuable, ethical perspective that students can carry with them into adulthood.

In 1802, Edmund Rice commenced his first school

for boys in Waterford, Ireland. Joined by men who

became known as the Christian Brothers, Edmund

extended his mission providing education to poor

youth throughout Ireland and beyond.

All schools in the Edmund Rice tradition have a

charter with four key pillars. These are Liberating

Education, Gospel Spirituality, Inclusive Community

and Justice and Solidarity.

At Rostrevor College we prepare boys to receive the

sacraments and make links with our local parish of

St Joseph’s Tranmere. Students are involved in

outreach programs that link with those who are

marginalized in our own community. As a school

community we pray together and, in the words of

Edmund, allow students to be men for others.
