Hello Kops, Kuties, Nobles, and Ladies all.
Just let me get this out of the way right off the
bat. I’d really like to apologize for the lack of
an article in last month I was suffering from
computer issues. That being said August is
here and CSSA is right around the corner.
Actually there is no corner just a four hour
drive across the wind milled plains of Iowa. I
can’t wait to see you all there. I’m sure at least
THREE of us will have a great time. Our skit
is probably the greatest thing I’ve seen, and
if we practice at least THREE more times we
might actually earn that trophy. For the Kops
that can’t make it we would love to have you
participate in the JDRF walk on Saturday,
August 11 at the Lewis & Clark Landing in
downtown Omaha. We would ask the Kops
to be at the event from approximately 9:30
- 11:00 am. If you can do it they would love
to have us.
We have had some great parades this
summer and even the heat couldn’t keep the
Kops away from the soaking good times. The
SWAT (soak-um wet attack team) has been
out in full force pleasing the crowds with a
nice refreshing spray down. It’s been great
to see so many Kops able to make it to the
parades this year.
Now because I missed last month’s article
I would like to mention all the July birthdays
and anniversaries. So a big Happy July
Birthday to Darwin Baker, Gene “Shave”
Holman, Ed Luick, Matt Sproul, David
Tinsley, Kuties Kim Burnham & Pam Stier.
I would also like to wish a very happy July
Anniversary to Arlo and Sandy Burk. Now
those celebrating August birthdays are
Kuties Brenda Holman and Pam Mitchell,
Past Chiefs Jeff Burnham and Dave Shaw,
Officer Ross “En Fuego” Cerveny, and our
chief Dave “Tiny Bubbles” Norton. I’d also
like to wish a happy anniversary to Justin and
Stephanie Porta.

June van trips to Hospitals
included one trip to St. Louis,
and twelve trips to Minneapolis, ferrying a
total of thirteen patients. In addition, there
were nineteen patients traveling by private
conveyance, and two by air.

Good driving!
All aboard! WOW! July was a hot one this
year. Hope everyone stayed cool and took it
easy last month. Thank you to all who joined
the train for a cool ride through the Ralston 4th
of July parade. The city was out in full force. It
was great to see such a turn out on a hot day. As
always the pre-parade “vittles” were delicious!
We still have a few more parades, Carson,
IA on August 4th. They always have yummy
fixings at the oasis afterwards, so come on out
and enjoy a “down home good time” in Carson.
Then CSSA August 9th, 10th, & 11th in Cedar
Rapids. Look forward to seeing everyone
there. The Millard parade is August 25th.
In closing here are some words for thought:
if the youth of today really listened to their
elders of yesterday, would history repeat
itself? Hmm.
Be kind to your fellow man, it may be the
only chance you get.
Past Masters

Wow where did the summer go? It has gone
by fast. On July 8th the Past Masters Club
had their annual BBQ out at Cooper Village.
We had a good turnout with about 30 in
attendance. I would like to thank Charlie and
Jeffrey for cooking and to Carl for making the
arrangements and getting the steaks and sides.
Our program was presented by our High Priest
& Prophet Gary Unger who talked about the
Shriners Hospitals for Children. If you haven’t
visited a Shrine Hospital you need to do so. It is
amazing what they can do for the kids. Thanks
Gary for your program and reminding us why
we have fun with a purpose. Also in attendance
from the divan was Past Potentate and Treasurer
Jim Parks, Sr. We always appreciate Divan
members taking time out of their schedule to
attend our meetings.
Our next meeting will be October 13th at the
Shrine. The program is pending at this point but
several ideas have been mentioned. Watch the
Hot Sands for more information.
The Past Masters Club is a social club open
to all past masters and current masters that
are Shrine members. We meet quarterly and
our dues are $5.00 a year. If you would like to

helping the children.

July…aaah July, what does a Pirate do
in July? Well there is certainly July 4th to
celebrate our nation’s independence and
fireworks that could be seen all over Omaha
and Council Bluffs while one relaxes. And
there is looking forward to attending the
upcoming Pirates meeting on the 4th Monday
of July at 6:30 pm at the Tangier Center but
other than that, well Pirates do what Pirates
do best. You know what pirates do best, don’t
you? If not, then come on down to the docks
at the Tangier Center on July 23rd and meet
the Mates and learn what Pirates do best and
maybe join the crew and embark on some
fun.
Remember CSSA is not far away, and
any help would be greatly appreciated from
the crew to support our Illustrious Sir Greg
and his Lady Donna in their year and as the
founding member and Admiral of the Pirates.

August and a couple more parades to go!
This month is CSSA in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
for the first time ever!
Sunday September 23rd is the Spaghetti
feed. There will be a lot of workers needed
on that day and the weeks leading into the
Spaghetti feed, so please plan on giving as
much time as you can.
It is one of Tangier’s biggest fundraising
activities.
Sunday September 30th is our car show
and our club’s fundraiser. The fliers are ready
to get out (see Jim Alessandro) and we need
our members to sell as many sponsorships
as they can as well as items for door prizes,
raffle items etc. Jeff and his committee are
meeting and gearing up for our car show.
Please plan on attending our car show and
donating your time to your club.
The Ladies tell me that for the remainder
of the year, the dinner fare for the monthly
meetings will be “Pot Luck.”
Remember to support all clubs, units,
lodges and rites.
Vintage Iron meets the 4th Tuesday of
every month in the main room at 7:00 pm.
