Budget 2012/13
Building a sustainable Sunshine Coast
A budget for sustainability
Council’s adopted budget
is taking us another step
closer to a sustainable
community and lifestyle, a
sustainable environment and
a sustainable economy.
Council made some tough decisions
to keep this fi nancial year’s rate
rise at the lower end of the scale
while maintaining infrastructure and
services. The average ratepayer will
pay less than a dollar a week extra
for rates and waste services.
The Mayor said one of council’s top
priorities is to make the Sunshine
Coast a better place to do business.
One of the drivers will be a suite of
economic development initiatives that
will help move our local economy in
the right direction.
“We have tightened our belts where
possible and will continue to look for
further savings over the life of the
council,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“This budget is about fi nancial
sustainability – maintaining and
enhancing services while also
ensuring council’s long-term future.
“This budget will strengthen the
economic foundations of the
Sunshine Coast – foundations that
were laid in the initial term of the
council.”
