energy to go back out! Once you pick up your child from his/her instructor, be sure to hold onto the
equipment that your child was using throughout the day. This will be the same equipment they use after
the program (you don’t have to re‐rent equipment!!). *If your child is 5 or younger, you do not have to
purchase an extended lift ticket, because they ski for free with a paying adult.
16. The ski boots in the locker do not fit, can I exchange them?
If you find the boots in your child’s locker do not fit, bring them and your child to our rental
shop inside the Treehouse and we will happily find the right boot for your child. Keep in mind that if we
have to change your child’s boot size, we may have to get them new skis to fit the new boots. This can
result in more than one pair of skis with your child’s name on them, so please be sure to keep track of
the new pair of skis you are given! *If the lesson bib in your locker doesn’t seem to match the skiing
level of your child, find any Treehouse associate and we will gladly figure out the correct color bib your
child should be wearing!
17. I think you placed my child in the wrong ski ability group.
It is often hard to place children into the proper ski ability group until we are able to see them
ski! Rest assured if we find your child is in the wrong class, we will make the necessary adjustments.
Please do not overestimate the abilities of your child. If your child has to “go down” a group level,
he/she is often embarrassed/sad/angry about the demotion. To keep this from happening, we will place
your child in the best fit group based on what we know about your child, then promote them to the next
color if needed.
18. What do I need to bring with me on the day of our reservation?
Your children, their ski clothes, a filled‐out winter registration card, and a medical
administration form filled out if you’re leaving medication with your child. If your child is in our Kids in
Action childcare program, we need a copy of immunization records and a copy of the birth certificate.
This portion of the program is licensed under the Virginia Department of Social Services, so we must
follow their standards and guidelines.
19. What precautions do you take on the slope?
All instructors must adhere to the Responsibility Code while on the slope. Safety is the number
one priority in all of our lessons, and we stress safety once the children leave the training area and head
out onto the slopes. Instructors keep the children in a single‐file line behind them, and stop on the side
of the hill. Instructors also give children points of interest while instructing, for example: “See that
yellow snow gun across the hill? We’re all going to point our skis at it, ski to it, then stop once we get
close to it!” Instructors must keep an eye on slope traffic for their entire group, making sure to look
uphill every time the group crosses the hill, and to stop when they see an unsafe skier or rider passing by
the group. All instructors have walkie‐talkies and their personal cell phones on them in case of an
emergency; they are able to radio or call a supervisor immediately who will notify ski patrol and the
parents.
