Healthy Living
Developing a healthy lifestyle is key to enjoying your adult
life to the full. As part of the “Change 4 Life” partnership,
you will have opportunities to develop your health related
fitness in a variety of settings ranging from city centre health
clubs to organised sporting events. Healthy eating and
nutrition will be addressed at all times.
Leisure
You will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of leisure and sporting
activities, both local and national, from International and Olympic events to local theatre
and cinema. You will have the chance to attend the All Abilities Cycling centre at St. Pauls.
Here you will have access to an incredible variety of specially adapted bicycles allowing
most to take part in exercise based activity. Cycling sessions help with confidence and
independence skills, and covers an important part of our leisure and fitness course. This
unique programme has lead to participation in the Bristol to Bordeaux Cycle Challenge.
Skills for Life
Working from our base at the Vassall Centre, a UK Online Specialist Disability Centre, we
not only work with a number of agencies to deliver the skills you need for adult life, but
also forge relationships with organisations who can help us in the world of work. You will
have opportunity to join the “www to work club” and take part in work skills workshops in
partnership with mencap. We work closely with the Bath Rugby Community Foundation on
a range of life skills including the award winning “Count on Bath” scheme.
While at PROPS we will set personal targets for you. Your progress will be
monitored using nationally recognised criteria. In conjunction with agencies
such as BOSS ( Bristol One Stop shop) your achievements will be recorded in
a passport for life , to demonstrate your progress and skills in the vocational
community
