Brief description of research organisation


INIA

(National Agricultural Research Institute)

• INIA is the major organization in Uruguay related to

agricultural technology R&D.

• Created in 1989 by a national law as a public non-state

organization, co-funded and co-governed by farmers and

the National Government.

• Previously, agricultural research was within the structure

of the Uruguayan government since 1914.
