MPI-CAC | Chapter Communication Vehicles

MPI-CAC will be offering the following Products and Services to our Chapter Members in the 2009 | 2010 Fiscal Year

MPICAC.org

The Chapter’s website, redesigned in 2009, is still one of the most popular marketplaces for the

chapter. Event registration, the latest industry news, ever changing content, message boards and

blogs have made it the most functional and preferred tool for our membership. From registering

for events, to looking up other MPI members, www.mpicac.org offers unique and trackable

marketing opportunities.

Conversations + Connections | The Chapter’s Bi-Weekly E-mail

Conversations + Connections, the Chapters bi-weekly e-newsletter, offers bite sized nuggets of

information direct to our members’ electronic boxes. Included in these quick reads are reminders

about upcoming chapter events, sponsorship opportunities, and announcements that get read. Again,

a great advertising opportunity for our supplier partners.

Social Media | The New Way of Doing Business

The Chicago Area Chapter of Meeting Professionals International utilizes the most popular social

media methods of communicating with meeting professionals in the Chicagoland area. Reaching

both members and non-members alike, the up-to-date announcements and community interactions

allows for a fresh perspective on chapter happenings and industry news.

Career Center | Job Board & Internship Postings

With the strengthening of the US economy and growth of the student membership, the need for

improving and expanding our career center became a very obvious and quick way to increase ROI

for our members.

MPI-CAC | About TechCon

7

TechCon is one of the two flagship educational conferences organized by the

Chicago Chapter of Meeting Professionals International. This event expands the

MPI-CAC brand, educates local membership, provides networking opportunities,

and creates a venue to deliver supplier sales. At MPI-CAC TechCon Chicago 2013,

attendees will learn about the various options for incorporating technology into

their next meeting or event, from the planning stage to event execution and

everywhere in between. Suppliers will learn how to build relationships from

technology to build trust and ultimately deliver sales. We'll explore how

technology can help solve common challenges that meeting planners and

suppliers have ranging from sales/sale leads, event marketing, and AV.

The Experience: With alternative seating layouts and registration models, a

modern networking/exhibit hall lounge, live music and some unexpected

elements , our goal is to make Tech education fun and to create a clearer

product differential from the Chapters (and other association's) educational

experiences.

Hackathon: Adding some tech credibility and a first in the industry event like a

hackathon to the weekend prior to the event will give us additional earned

media, potential sponsorship opportunities, and GEEK up the vibe of the

TechCon. A Hackathon is a 48 hour code fest for developers around issues or

needs of our community. A suggestion site will take ideas from the membership,

coding teams will choose an idea and within 48 hours have a working tool to

present at TechCon. This could be everything from a planner web app to value of

meetings tool.

Education:

TechCon Chicago 2013 will feature a dynamic line-up of Keynote Speakers like:

Scott Stratten - President and Author of Unmarketing

Sara Santiago - Digital Marketing Expert in Mobile Applications and Mobile Websites

Midori Connolly- CEO at Pulse Staging and Events

Mana Ionescu - President at Lightspan Digital

The committee's educational goal is to go outside the usual speaker pool in the event industry and tap

some of the most innovative presenters in the digital and traditional tech industry. The morning sessions

will tackle the myth and realities of digital marketing delivering "cutting through the fat" presentations on

social media and mobile applications/websites. Followed by a digital marketing session with a hands on

implementation plan so attendees not only learn how to use digital marketing correctly but leave the day

with a plan to implement.

Three concurrent 1-hour tracks will cover specific technology discussions revolving around the following:

Track 1: Tools of Technology - A track designed to introduce attendees to the tools available to them

ranging from traditional AV equipment, social media tools, registration software and mobile solutions.

Track 2: Strategic Technology - A track around trends forecasting, SMM and Tech, best practices and

evaluating ROI.

Track 3: Sales - A new track based on a sales focus using technology tools. Potential tracks include online

data analysis, digital advertising, and digital sale solutions.

Learner Outcomes:

Planners will be introduced to various event technology solutions and how they can be incorporated into

their events.

Suppliers will be introduced to social media/digital marketing to drive relationships and sales.

All attendees will have the opportunity to experience the hottest industry technologies in action.

All attendees will be armed with several options for each technology component so they can make an

educated recommendation based on their audience and their budget.

CEU Tracking:

Attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 7 Continuing Education clock hours (CEs) towards the

CMP application or Recertification application.

Virtual Component:

TechCon will once again be using a virtual hybrid solution allowing an even expanded reach and reuse of

educational elements of the event.

Exhibit Hall (formally Touchstations)

The exhibit hall will be filled with technology driven solutions and industry suppliers who embrace

technology in their business. Attendees will be able to network and learn from exhibit hall vendors

throughout the day during registration, extended lunch in the hall, and breaks. Unlike in previous year's

we are open to traditional vendors, but will work with them to showcase their technology innovations. (A

CVB talking about their new mobile app... etc..) The exhibit hall will be more lounge like replacing the

traditional table with pods of chairs (4 chairs and a little table) allowing the vendors to modify their area

to create individuality. We are also encouraging vendors to bring mobile presentations (ipad etc.) and

walk around the exhibit space which will also have high boys throughout. A ipad DJ will be pumping in

some music into the hall, and AV suppliers will assist in creating a more modern networking vibe. We will

also be implementing smaller unconference elements in the networking hall to accommodate learner

needs and increase touchpoints.

Networking Reception

We will wrap up the day at a two hour networking event after the conference. Attending will be

conference attendees and additional community members. The reception will take place in a lower level

event facility with gaming, bowling, and a bar. This reception will be the perfect place to network, relax,

and create lasting relationships for future business.

MPI-CAC Sponsorship | Types of Sponsorships

Two primary types of sponsorships are available when considering a partnership with the chapter: In-kind (donation of goods

and services) and cash sponsorships.

Cash Sponsorship

Cash sponsorships are an invaluable way to provide and partner in the

programming needs and requirements of one or a few committees

and/or chapter events. Cash sponsorships are valued at 100% of the

donated value and benefit kits are sent out upon receipt and

countersignature of the client signed Sponsorship Agreement.

In-Kind Sponsorship

Chapter events rely upon the time and talent of both our committee

members and suppliers that produce and/or provide goods and services

for the chapter. The following are examples of In-Kind Sponsorship

items:

Level

Value – Cash or In-Kind

The chapter will give 100% sponsorship credit for the retail value of the in-kind donation if the sponsorship is provided in full (no

money required from the chapter, unless otherwise pre-negotiated). Should the in-kind donation not be a 100% donation, but

instead a percentage of the total retail value, the chapter will give in-kind credit on a sliding scale to the donating sponsor. Contact

the Director of Sponsorship for more details!

ensure that you are included in the prospective suppliers list for their event.

There are occasions where we have more than one supplier of the same type of in-kind service looking to provide or sponsor an event.

To ensure that we are fairly assessing all sponsors equally, we request that our committees secure a minimum of three RFD’s and/or

bids for all goods and services and will select the most competitive proposal.

Step 3 for Cash Sponsors | The TechCon Committee will contact you to discuss your sponsorship.

We would like to provide the highest ROI possible to all of our sponsors by ensuring the benefits that they will receive will be valuable

year long. Sponsorship benefits can be customized with approval by the Director of Sponsorship.
