Bush Fire Attack Levels (BAL) in Accordance with AS3959: 2009 Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Classified vegetation within 100m of the site and heat flux exposure Description of predicted bushfire attack and levels of exposure Sarking requirements for Roofs and Walls BAL – LOW Refer to clause 2.2.3.2 There is insufficient risk to warrant specific construction requirements Walls - sarking-type material may be applied over the outer face of the frame prior to fixing any external cladding BAL – 12.5 < 12.5 kW/m 2 Ember attack BAL – 19 BAL – 29 BAL – 40 Increasing levels of ember attack and > 12.5 kW/m 2 burning debris ignited < 19 kW/m 2 by windborne embers together with increasing heat flux > 19 kW/m 2 < 29 kW/m 2 Increasing levels of ember attack and burning debris ignited by windborne embers together with increasing heat flux Increasing levels of ember attack and burning debris ignited > 29 kW/m 2 by windborne embers < 40 kW/m 2 together with increasing heat flux with the increased likelihood of exposure to flames Tiled Roofs - shall be fully sarked. The sarking shall: (a) have a flammability index of not more than 5 when tested to AS1530,2; (b) be located directly below the roof battens; (c) cover the entire roof area including the ridge; and (d) be installed so that there are no gaps that would allow the entry of embers where the sarking meets fascias, gutters, valleys and the like Metal Sheet Roofs - (a) be fully sarked in accordance with Sarking of Tiled Roof, except that foil-backed insulation blankets may be installed over the battens; or (b) have any gaps greater than 3 mm, under corrugations or ribs of sheet roofing and between roof components, sealed at the fascia or wall line and at valleys, hips and ridges by: (i) a mesh or perforated sheet with a maximum aperture of 2 mm, made of corrosion-resistant steel, bronze or aluminium; or (ii) mineral wool; or (iii) other non-combustible material; or (iv) a combination of any of Items (i), (ii) or (iii) above Walls - sarking-type material may be applied over the outer face of the frame prior to fixing any external cladding. BAL – FZ > 40 kW/m 2 flames from fire front in addition to heat flux Direct exposure to and ember attack Roofs – The roof or roofing system shall be one of the following: (i) A system complying with AS 1530.8.2 when tested from the outside or (ii) A system with an FRL of 30/30/30 or −/30/30 when tested from the outside or (iii) A combination of Items (i) and (ii) above

Installation Bradford EnviroSeal Wall Wrap and Roof Sarking products will perform in normal building applications when installed in accordance with AS/NZS 4200.2:1994 Pliable Building Membranes & Underlay’s, Part 2 Installation Requirements. • In roofing applications Bradford Insulation recommends minimum sag of 40mm deep between the rafters, except at eaves • A minimum airgap of 20mm is required on the reflective surface to ensure thermal performance • For maximum strength it is recommended to fix EnviroSeal Wall Wrap and Wall Wrap Breather using Bradford foil fasteners • All EnviroSeal products should be installed with the antiglare surface facing outwards • All proper safety measures should be taken during installation of EnviroSeal , all relevant OHS and statutory regulations must be followed
