The Path of Peace<br />
The Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna<br />
plateaus were of strategic importance<br />
during the FIRST WORLD WAR and the Austro-<br />
Hungarian soldiers fortified them with a<br />
mighty system of dugouts, communication<br />
trenches, casemates and towers.<br />
In particular they built SEVEN FORTRESSES,<br />
among which the FORTE BELVEDERE GSCHWENT<br />
in Lavarone is particularly impressive.<br />
Today the evocative remains lie on the PATH<br />
OF PEACE, an itinerary that crosses the whole<br />
of Trentino following the line of the front.<br />
Grape Festival The oldest festival of grapes in the region<br />
is held during the last week of September in Verla di Giovo. Three<br />
days of wine, food and culture in the streets of the historic centre<br />
and a procession of allegorical grape harvest floats on Sunday<br />
