CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION<br />

45 th Raising day of Central Bureau of Investigation was held by CBI on April 23,<br />

2008 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Shri M. Hamid Ansari, the Vice President of<br />

India delivered the lecture on the topic, “The Enemy within- Corruption, Development<br />

and Governance”. In his speech, Shri Ansari, emphasised that the corruption<br />

hampers, governance and development and constrains the progress of the Indian<br />

society. Since it impacts on all aspects of state activity, it becomes the most important<br />

threat to the state, more so because it is less visible than the external enemy.<br />

19.12.1 On the occasion the D.P.Kohli Award for the Best Detective Constable/ Head<br />

Constable of the CBI for the year 2007 was presented to Shri Mahender Singh,<br />

Head Constable, SCR.II, CBI, New Delhi by the Minister of State, Shri Prithiviraj<br />

Chavan with a commendation certificate and cash reward of Rs.10,000/-.<br />

CBI ACADEMY<br />

19.13 CBI Academy started functioning from 10, January, 1996 in its Campus at Ghaziabad.<br />

During the year 2008 the Academy conducted 93 courses as compared to 88 courses<br />

in 2007. During the year 2008, the XIIth Batch comprising 39 Sub-Inspectors<br />

reported to the Academy on 29 September, 2008 for Basic Training. During the<br />

year 2009 (upto 31 March, 2009) CBI Academy Ghaziabad conducted 31 courses,<br />

in which 835 persons were trained.<br />
