• 189 officers (1979, 1980 batches) have been trained in Phase V at IIM<br />
Ahmedabad. The programme was conducted by Kennedy School of Government,<br />
Harvard University and IIM Ahemdabad.<br />
POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN PUBLIC POLICY<br />
5.8 The programmes were envisaged to enhance the competence in public policy of<br />
Mid Career Civil Servants by (i) Broadening awareness of latest trends in policy<br />
approaches (ii) Developing technical, analytical and leadership skills for public policy<br />
(iii) Provide opportunity in specialisation (iv) Exposure to alternative system of public<br />
management in other countries. The first programme was started with the assistance<br />
of UNDP in IIM Bangalore in the year 2002-03. Consequent to the discontinuance<br />
of UNDP assistance, the Government of India has provided full funding from the<br />
4th programme onwards and also expanded it to TERI School (2005), MDI, Gurgaon<br />
(2005) and IIM Ahmedabad (2006).<br />
5.9 These programmes are being conducted by the Indian Institutions in collaboration<br />
with foreign universities as under.<br />
• IIM, Bangalore –Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse<br />
University, USA<br />
• TERI School—LB Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas, USA<br />
and Yale University, USA<br />
• MDI, Gurgaon –George Mason University, USA<br />
• IIM, Ahmedabad—Georgetown Public Policy Institute, USA<br />
The H John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management, Carnegie<br />
Mellon University, USA, IOMBA Programme, University of Geneva<br />
