Junior Beta Club: Over Four Decades of
Service and Counting
Robin Forsha getting inducted into Beta
Club.
Article by: Alley Pykare
For over 45 years, the Junior Beta
Club has been dedicated to serving and
assisting others. Whether it’s something as
simple as stapling papers, or helping at a
local coat drive, Junior Beta Club is about
leading by volunteering and making a difference
in our community.
About three weeks ago, the 2012
Winter Dance Fun
By Makayla Ford and Kaitlyn
Barry
This year’s winter
dance took place on November
16, 2012 in the cafeteria at
Badger School. The fun began
at 7 p.m. and ended at 9 p.m.
There was a great DJ at the
dance who played all of the
hit songs. Not only could you
listen to great music but you
could also enjoy snacks, water,
and you can’t forget about
all of the dancing. Some students
came to dance with
friends, others to socialize.
Regardless, it was a good
time for everybody, even parents
and teachers.
Don’t forget to attend
the next school dance in
the New Year 2013, the more
the merrier!
Junior Beta Club inductions were held. But
this was no easy feat. Weeks of preparation
were put into the ceremony. President
Sarah Sirochman, Vice President Alexis
Long, Secretary Emma Flowers, and Treasurer
Alix Wilson often found themselves
working throughout the lunch period with
Mrs. Himes, Head of Junior Beta Club.
The result? A flawless induction with
a meaningful theme and a well-organized
ceremony.
In the weeks following the ceremony,
the Junior Beta Club collected six boxes of
items to send to the troops overseas, and is
now in the process of conducting a toy and
food drive for NESFACE.
To sum it up, Junior Beta Club is not
about getting out of your least favorite
class to volunteer half-heartedly and give
yourself bragging rights. However, it is
about going out of your way to improve
your community and help someone in a
way that makes their life just a little easier.

Hopeful Boys Basketball Team
By Preston Carroll
The current basketball team
is working towards a successful
season. Our team has done well in the
past, and this year we hope for the same.
Unfortunately, we must combine 7th and
8th grade teams due to the low number of
team members. This will not be a problem;
our district is hopeful for another
great season. There are a lot of dedicated,
hardworking team members that have a
great outlook on the season.
If you are interested in signing up
for this year’s boys basketball team, see
Mr. Kochemba in the office. Badger has
pride and as a team we will succeed.
Boys Styles (Shirts)
For a cool winter top, you
should get a solid or a
graphic long sleeve shirt.
There are different kinds of
shirts, for example, there
are tight sports shirts and
there are loose shirts. A
flannel top is another great
buy for winter. They are
warm and stylish at the
same time!
Boys Styles (Pants)
Dark jeans or washed jeans
-both are extremely
fashionable. Make certain
that you wear something
that is your size. Clothes
that are too small or too
big do not work.
“Hi, we are doing a fashion article about winter styles. This
article will inform you on the coolest winter fashion.”
Girls Styles (Shirts)
Colorful shirts are cute and in style. We suggest
you try to wear plain colors so you can
layer your clothes for the cold weather that
will soon be here. Don’t over-do it! Layering
is a great way to dress because you can take
off layers if you get too warm and add layers
if you get too cold.
Girls Styles (Pants)
Wear warm pants that are comfy or try something
different. Colored jeans are a big hit
right now. Any color works, pick your favorite.
Find a top that has similar colors.
5-6 Grade Chorus
Performed on Wednesday, December 5, 2012
Jingle Bell Jukebox the Flipside
The chorus play takes place in a restaurant called
Rubin’s. Here, the BMS chorus will sing a variety of
wonderful songs, for example, Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bell Jukebox,
Rocking around the Christmas Tree, and many more. One
featured song originated in Hawaii.
The director of this fabulous play is Mrs. Roknick.
She put together a wonderful play, and it took a lot of
hard work and dedication. It took a lot of dedication from
everyone and was definitely worth all of the hard work. If
you want to get into the holiday spirit come watch us perform!
GRANDPARENTS’ LUNCHEON: A
WONDERFUL DAY
By Peyton Ramsey
On Friday December 7, 2012 Beta Club held a grandparent luncheon during our lunch.
Grandparents were invited to join their grandchild to eat, socialize, and see what it’s like to be a
middle school student at Badger. There were over 100 people who attended. This took a lot of hard
work and preparation. Beta Club did a wonderful job setting up and preparing for our guests. Mrs.
Himes, Beta Club leader and Badger teacher, dedicates her time organizing and preparing events
like this one. The lunch ladies cooked fish sandwiches, potato soup, and pizza, in addition, salad
and drinks were available. The Beta Club members served lunch and helped clean up. Afterwards,
grandparents were invited to watch the Robotics skit in the auditorium. This day had fantastic
results and was enjoyed by all. A special thanks goes to all of those who helped make this day so
wonderful.
