Theodore Presser Company (King of Prussia, PA, 2009)
For wind ensemble. First Edition. Pann wrote this
work for University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Wind Symphony. Meant to evoke the sounds of
machinery in large factories, and partially inspired by
Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead,” Pann refers to this
piece as “explorations in motorized color-palettes,”
with each of its four movements serving as individual
“color-concepts.” It was premiered on February 16,
2007 in Strathmore Hall, Washington D.C. under the
direction of Kevin M. Geraldi. For advanced or
university ensembles. Performance materials
HOLD THIS BOY AND LISTEN
Carl Fischer, LLC (New York, NY, 2009)
Inspired by the composer’s young nephew, it is
unusually quiet and subdued for a wind band
composition and will prove to be a great exercise in
restraint for musicians.
THE WRANGLER: COWBOY DANCES
FOR WIND SYMPHONY
Theodore Presser Company (King of Prussia, PA, 2009)
For wind symphony. First Edition. Written for the
James Logan High School wind ensemble in 2006, and
is reminiscent of film scores of old Westerns. While
sharing a syntax with Aaron Copland’s ballets “Billy
the Kid” and “Rodeo,” it manages to remain
completely original in melody. This work was
premiered in Carnegie Hall, New York City, in May of
2006. For advanced ensembles. Performance materials
available on rental. Full score.
LADY MACBETH
Theodore Presser Company (King of Prussia, PA, 2009)
its inspiration from the monologues of Shakespeare’s
“Macbeth.” Heartfelt, dramatic, and at times artfully
atonal, Pasatieri brings the words of Shakespeare alive
in a ravishing new setting. World premiere on
September 14, 2008 at Voices of Change,
Contemporary Theatre of Dallas, TX. Available on
