This course will deal with the anti-Communist movement in the 1950s and its relationship to the Cold<br />

War as well as domestic politics including a discussion of the perpetrators: J. Edgar Hoover, Senator Joseph<br />

McCarthy, Richard Nixon and the House Un-American Activities Committee along with the victims<br />

including Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, teachers, actors, writers and directors. The causes, the impact of this<br />

crusade on American society and the reasons for its demise will be our focus.<br />
