<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> is open each day as a place for prayer. Services in <strong>Chapel</strong> are open to all <strong>College</strong> members<br />

and staff, their guests and friends. Our services are according to those of the Church of England, but all<br />

are welcome to participate in our worship, regardless of tradition or denomination.<br />

WEEKDAYS<br />

Unless indicated on the notice board, all daily services during term are as below.<br />

All evening services finish in time for dinner in Hall.<br />

Daily Offices<br />

Morning Prayer at 8.15am followed by breakfast<br />

Evening Prayer at 6.30pm (Monday and Friday)<br />

Compline by Candlelight with <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> Choral Scholars at 9.00pm (Thursday)<br />

Holy Eucharist<br />

Holy Eucharist at 6.30pm (Tuesday and Thursday)<br />

Holy Eucharist is also celebrated on all major Holy Days as indicated each week on the <strong>Chapel</strong> notice board.<br />

SPECIAL SERVICES<br />

Holocaust Memorial Service, Sunday 27 th January (3<br />

rd Week), 5.30pm<br />

A service for Holocaust Memorial Day that brings together Christian and Jewish communities in<br />

Oxford. <strong>The</strong> OxfordShir Choir will join <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir for this day of prayer and<br />

remembrance.<br />

Mitre Club Evensong and Black Tie Dinner, Monday 28 th January (3 rd Week)<br />

<strong>The</strong> annual <strong>Chapel</strong> Black Tie dinner begins with Evensong at 6.45pm and is followed by dinner in<br />

Hall with the infamous hat competition. Look for an invitation in 1 st Week.<br />

Corporate Communion, Wednesday 6 th February (5<br />

th Week), 7.00pm<br />

This service gathers together Christians from across the <strong>College</strong>, as well as many members of<br />

<strong>Keble</strong> parishes, for a sung Eucharist followed by a festive dinner in Hall at 8.15pm. <strong>The</strong> preacher<br />

for this gathering will be <strong>The</strong> Very Revd Victor Stock, Dean of Guildford and is not to be missed!<br />

Ash Wednesday, Wednesday 13 th February (5<br />

th Week), 6.00pm<br />

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of preparation to celebrate the central<br />

mysteries of the Christian faith: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All are invited to begin<br />

Lent with this powerful service that includes the imposition of ashes.<br />

Chaplains’ Mission Events, 11 th -15 th February (6 th Week)<br />

Oxford <strong>College</strong> Chaplains are hosting a week of events in the University Church centred on the<br />

theme: <strong>The</strong> Beauty of Holiness. Look for posters with more information about talks from worldrenowned<br />

artists, musicians, poets, and writers about how their faith informs their work.<br />

Sung Eucharist (except where stated otherwise)<br />

Each Sunday the <strong>College</strong> community gathers to celebrate the presence of<br />

Christ in Word and Sacrament. We hear readings from Scripture and a<br />

sermon and receive communion. <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir sings the<br />

setting of the service and an anthem; the service also includes hymns and a<br />

congregational psalm. All are welcome. Refreshments are available after<br />

the service.<br />
