Volunteer Opportunities<br />

College of The Arts Usher Corps: Volunteers are needed<br />

for upcoming concerts, performances, etc. Usher Corps members<br />

get “first dibs” on volunteering for events for the season, invitations<br />

to special events, and more. To participate, contact Dawn<br />

Museum of History and Holocaust Education:<br />

Volunteers are needed for multiple positions, including tour guide,<br />

Newsletter, we have<br />

received notice of the<br />

passing of two KSU<br />

retirees:<br />

Charlotte Stein Sachs,<br />

94, of Sandy <strong>Spring</strong>s,<br />

whose memorial service<br />

will be held March 25,<br />

<strong>2012</strong> at 3 p.m. in the<br />

Temple Kehillat Chaim,<br />

Charlotte Sachs in 2009 at the unveiling of her portrait.<br />

1145 Green Street,<br />

Roswell, GA. Mrs. Lotte<br />

Sachs, who completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at<br />

Emory and was a pioneer of KSU’s Nursing Program, died<br />

January 26, <strong>2012</strong>. The family encourages all KSU friends and<br />

family to attend. A portrait of Mrs. Sachs commissioned for<br />

Prillaman Hall, the new Health Sciences Building on campus,<br />

will be displayed at the service. Memorial donations to help KSU<br />

nursing students may be made to the Charlotte Sachs Annual<br />

Nursing Scholarship, C/O KSU Foundation, MD 9101, 1000<br />

Chastain Road, <strong>Kennesaw</strong>, GA 30144.<br />

Dr. Martha Watson Bargo, 84, of Marietta, died January<br />

16, <strong>2012</strong>. A Greenville, SC, native, Dr. Bargo retired as a<br />

professor of English at KSU after 22 years. She received her<br />

bachelor’s degree at Furman <strong>University</strong> and a master’s degree in<br />

Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological<br />

Seminary and completed both master’s and doctoral degrees in<br />

English Literature at Georgia <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Graveside<br />

services were held January 19. The family requests memorial<br />

donations be made to The Scholarship Fund at The <strong>University</strong> of<br />

the Cumberlands, 6191 College Station Drive, Williamsburg, KY<br />

40769 or to the charity of your choice.<br />
