proportions given in subsidiary Table No. VI IB would appear to point to the<br />

inference that, on the whole, the symptoms <strong>of</strong> the disease declare themselves a<br />

trifle earlier in the case <strong>of</strong> female than in the case <strong>of</strong> male children. As in the<br />

case <strong>of</strong> the insanity figures adverted to earlier, however, the actuals are far too<br />

microscopic to afford a basis for anything in the shape <strong>of</strong> generalities. In the later<br />

age-periods the totals are, perhaps, just large enough to afford reasonable grounds<br />

for the view that female lepers are slightly longer lived than male.
