From Mauno Po Si, President, Municipal Committee, Gyobingauk, to the Superintendent, <strong>Census</strong> Operations,<br />

<strong>Burma</strong>,—No. 71-10G., dated the 10th April <strong>1901</strong>.<br />

WITH reference to your Circular No. 24 <strong>of</strong> <strong>1901</strong>, dated the 18th January <strong>1901</strong>, I have the<br />

honour to submit a brief report on the <strong>Census</strong> operations.<br />

(a) The general register <strong>of</strong> the town and the circle lists have been prepared in accordance<br />

with the instructions contained in Circular No. 7 <strong>of</strong> 1900 and completed on the 31st August<br />

1900. * * *.<br />

(6) The house-numbering was commenced on the 22nd November 1900 and completed on<br />

the 24th November 1900. * * *.<br />

(c) During the time <strong>of</strong> <strong>Census</strong> operations, the agency employed consisted <strong>of</strong> a Charge<br />

Superintendent, who is the Secretary to the Municipality, five Supervisors, who are the ward<br />

headmen, and 35 Enumerators, who, most <strong>of</strong> them, are the block-elders appointed under the<br />

Lower <strong>Burma</strong> Towns Act.<br />

(d) On the 15th January <strong>1901</strong> the preliminary enumeration was commenced and completed<br />

not later than the 19th January 190 1. The testing <strong>of</strong> the work was thoroughly done by<br />

the Supervisors and the Charge Superintendent. * * *<br />

(/") The charge and the circle summaries were prepared on the 2nd March <strong>1901</strong> and<br />

submitted to the Deputy Commissioner's <strong>of</strong>fice, Tharrawaddy, on the 3rd March <strong>1901</strong>.<br />

(h) There was no prosecution under the Act.<br />

(z') No expenditure was incurred to the Municipality.<br />

(j) The figures were correctly obtained.<br />

I HAVE the honour to submit a brief report on the <strong>Census</strong> operations for the year <strong>1901</strong>,<br />

as required by <strong>Census</strong> Circular No. 24 <strong>of</strong> 190 1.<br />

(a) The preparation <strong>of</strong> the general register <strong>of</strong> villages, <strong>of</strong> towns, and <strong>of</strong> the circle<br />

list.—General registers <strong>of</strong> villages were distributed to all Subdivisional and Township Officers<br />

for filling in columns 2 to 7 and to be returned by the 20th May 1900.<br />

The abstract <strong>of</strong> the general village register <strong>of</strong> Prome district together with a <strong>Census</strong> map,<br />

prepared according to the rules laid down in Chapter II, was submitted on the 8th August 1900.<br />

The circle lists and maps were prepared in the Land Records Office and distributed to all<br />

Charge Superintendents on the 28th September 1900.<br />

(b) House-numbering.—House-numbering was commenced and completed in the several<br />

townships on the following dates :<br />
