Louisville offers many exciting attractions to tour during<br />

convention. These <strong>FFA</strong> members visited the famous Louisville<br />

Slugger Museum.<br />

<strong>FFA</strong> Chapter.<br />

Another chance to see <strong>FFA</strong> history was<br />

in a commemorative <strong>FFA</strong> art display at the<br />

Kentucky Center for the Arts. The display<br />

was open for viewing during national convention.<br />

The thirty-three oil paintings<br />

commissioned for the <strong>FFA</strong> calendar series<br />

trace the growth of the organization from<br />

1951-84.<br />

Sessions were action-packed with motivational<br />

and entertaining speakers including<br />

Rick Pitino, Dr. Rick Rigsby, Mamie<br />

McCullough and Baxter Black. Olympic<br />

gold medalist Rulon Gardner, a former<br />

<strong>FFA</strong> member from the Star Valley <strong>FFA</strong><br />

Chapter in Afton, Wyo., sent a wave of<br />

excitement through the arena as he placed<br />

for members to grasp some final, moving<br />

remarks from the six amazing individuals<br />

that led the organization through the past<br />

year.<br />

Competition made it’s way into convention<br />

with members participating in 23<br />

career development events and one activity<br />

that allowed them to execute all the<br />

hard work that had gone into their respective<br />

event. Also, winners in 49 proficiency<br />

areas were recognized for exceptional<br />

supervised agricultural experience programs<br />

(SAE).<br />

National Chapter Awards honored one,<br />

two and three star chapters and the three<br />
