Bruce E. Marshall<br />

Captain Billy <strong>Bowlegs</strong>, 55<br />

aptain Billy <strong>Bowlegs</strong> LV, Bruce Marshall, grew<br />

up on a farm in Illinois raising corn, soy beans<br />

and hogs. Never having a desire to be a farmer,<br />

Bruce attended Arizona State University where he<br />

graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and<br />

received his commission through Air Force ROTC.<br />

His 24 year Air Force career brought him to Florida<br />

for the first time in the early 70s to get his MBA from<br />

the University <strong>of</strong> Central Florida and culminated<br />

in Florida in 1990 – 1993 as the Air Base Wing<br />

Commander at Eglin AFB. During his tour as commander,<br />

Bruce and Debbie enjoyed many <strong>Bowlegs</strong><br />

parties and the ensuing friendships that grew from<br />

the association. After 24 years <strong>of</strong> moving the family<br />

around the country, Bruce and Debbie chose to<br />

make their home on the Emerald Coast. He has<br />

continued working in the defense business since his<br />

retirement and is currently President <strong>of</strong> Marshall Enterprises, a management and consulting company.<br />

Bruce has been involved in the local community both on active duty and since retirement. He<br />

has served on the Boards <strong>of</strong> United Way, The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce,<br />

where he served as Chairman in 2006, and the Air Force Armament Museum. He also served on<br />

the Board <strong>of</strong> the Mental Health Association and was President in 2001 – 2004. He has been active<br />

in the Air Force Association serving as Region / State President in 2002 – 2004 and on the National<br />

Board from 2004 – 2007.<br />

Bruce joined the <strong>Krewe</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Bowlegs</strong> in 1996 and served on the Honor Guard <strong>of</strong> Captain Billy XLV,<br />

Dick Roberts in 1999-2000. He has served on the <strong>Krewe</strong>’s Board <strong>of</strong> Directors every year since being<br />

on the Honor Guard and has chaired or co-chaired many <strong>of</strong> the major events. He and his wife<br />

Debbie served as First Mate and Mistress for Captain Billy LIII, Brock Fisher in 2007 -2008.<br />

Debbie was born and raised in Ft. Washington, MD. She has been in local real estate for the past<br />

13 years. She is a sales agent with Pelican Real Estate and Development Company. Debbie has<br />

been a volunteer in support <strong>of</strong> school activities and various other charities. Debbie currently serves<br />

on the Board <strong>of</strong> the William Augustus Bowles MUSEUM and Historical Foundation. In their spare<br />

time they like to play on the water in the summer and snow ski in Colorado in the winter.<br />

Bruce and Debbie have 4 sons and 7 grandchildren; Barry and his wife Michelle live in Manila, Philippines<br />

with their three children Stevii, Davis and Jaron; Brad and his two children Julian and Ellie in<br />

Newton, KS; Jason and his wife Kay with their son Gates and daughter Delaney live in Westminster,<br />

CO; and Neil and his wife Erin, live in Broomfield, CO. Pictured with Bruce and Debbie is Grandson,<br />

Gates Marshall who played the role <strong>of</strong> a “mini Captain” - back in time for the “Back to the Future”<br />

55th <strong>Coronation</strong>. Bruce and Debbie live in Shalimar.<br />
