Acadia invited 14 Wing Greenwood to join them prior to the kick-off with the Wing Band playing the National Anthem and a CP-140 doing a couple of fly pasts! Acting 14 Wing Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ghislain Letourneau did the ceremonial kick off with the encouragement of the acting 14 Wing Chief Warrant Officer, Bob Veil and the President of Acadia University, Ray Ivany. Unfortunately, things did not go very well for the Axemen who by the end of the first half were all ready down 7 to 0 to the Huskies! The final score was 21 to 0 and left Acadia without home field advantage for the play-offs. The final regular season game was the second event this month that had the Base and the University join forces for a sporting event. Earlier in the month, the Acadia Axemen hockey team travelled to the Wing to play the Trois Rivieres Patriotes in an exhibition game. The Wing looks forward to continuing and enhancing its relationship with the University in the future either through athletics or academic venues and encourages everyone to come and watch some of the fine sporting events that the University has to offer.
