trivision innovation
Prism technology comes in from the cold
An innovative new, er, twist on the trivision
form of advertising is making a big impact
in the market having been launched by
Korean company Global Sign Technology.
The product is HexaVision.
The company develops, manufactures and
supplies conceptual advertising display media
for merchants, shopping centres, event sponsors
and advertising agencies all over the world.
‘Through the use of GST’s advertising media, our
customers will receive the highest return on
investment. This is the most cost effective way to
promote their products and services,’ says
Overseas Marketing manager Sophia Shin.
With its clear 360º visual design, Hexavision
comprises six rotating triangular prisms. It is an
efficient form of advertising particularly suited to
High impact trivision
Netherlands-based RotaPanel International
has been making trivision signs for more
than 10 years, and supplies big-names such
as Clear Channel, Viacom, Wall, and Gewista.
The company puts great store by its technical
expertise and project support. RotaPanel’s sign
range includes RotaPoster Digital signs between
25-40m long, and unipoles of 14.6 x 4.26m.
Recently, another innovative development
was added – the cardanic divider, or linkage
mechanism. With a divider mounted using stainless
steel ball bearings, RotaPanel says it is possible
to easily create RotaPanels of hundreds of
square metres and up to 14.5m high with a single
drive unit. Recent projects using the RotaPanel
Extralarge format include a 200m 2 unit in Yemen;
limited spaces, says GST. The prisms dynamically
rotate and portray up to six different images all
together. Each side can show a different image in
three directions at the same time. Serial, multi
images can also be presented in a story telling
manner for an even more dynamic effect.
Hexavision also allows the display of actual
merchandise along with the images utilising the
hollow interiors of the prisms. The units are available
in different sizes to suit a range of locations.
Image heights available are: 520x280mm,
900x530mm, 1150x666mm, and 1500x880mm.
GST supplies the units for placement in theatres,
shopping malls, hospitals, transport networks,
corporate buildings and exhibition centres.
and a 120m 2 installation in Vienna.
Replacing static advertising on a pole with a
RotaPanel XXL result in five times more attention
value and a three times higher yield, says
the company. RotapPanel also says signs based
on digital technology exhibit fewer error caused
by mechanical failure, such as those associated
with reduction boxes and poster tensioners. The
company worked on the software for its digital
signs for two years. Now, each poster may be
treated individually with regards to tension,
speed, weight and motion. In fact, material specifications
can be saved and digital adjustments
made for material type and weight. The settings
may even be changed remotely using a PC and
GSM modem. Using this increasingly popular
technology, users can also check each
RotaPanel, and even receive error messages.
The RotaPoster Digital system positions
posters accurately in all conditions and is
unaffected by changes in poster length due to
moisture. Up to eight posters of 120-250 grams
paper or canvas may be shown. Many competitors’
systems are, says RotaPanel, often unable to
handle 250-gram material, such as canvas.
The combination of running 120 and 250
grams simultaneously is unique, says
RotaPanel. This allows the combination of short
campaigns with semi-permanent campaigns
lasting up to six months.
RotaPoster Digital also allows each poster's
exposure time to be programmed. Specific,
time-critical target groups, such as commuters
or shoppers can be targetted in what
Rotapanel calls ‘poster priority’.
