**Algebra** I A **Curriculum** **Map** Theme for the Unit: Theme/Unit: Unit 1 Foundations for **Algebra** Pacing: 12-15 days (includes 2-3 days for beginning of school procedures and review) Week: 1-3 Resources for the Multi- Genre Unit Strategies/Best Practices Used to Teach the Skills & Concepts How Students will Demonstrate Their Understanding Textbook Lessons/Ancillaries: **Algebra** I Prentice Hall/Pearson Common Core Manipulatives: **Algebra** Tiles (Beans, Popcorn, different colored chips) to represent positive/negative numbers Marker Boards for quick assessment during lessons. Technology: Video at the beginning of the chapter. Problems supported and worked out online. Online Textbook. Guided Instruction online. Personally Designed Materials: First day after syllabus and classroom procedures give students Vocabulary Activity. Randomly pair students. Allow first 2 days of class to complete. On third day of class, use BINGO activity to help students review the vocabulary terms. Supporting Materials: Vocabulary Activity with BINGO. Online Textbook Guided Instruction Online Use vocabulary activity first 2 days of class, followed by BINGO activity on the 3 rd day. Use vertical number line to represent positive/negative numbers. Use Concept Bytes found throughout chapter to develop understanding.
