Distribution Frame Closet<br />

Standards for network drops<br />

• The drops run from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) or Intermediate<br />

Distribution Frame (IDF) to office locations.<br />

• All jacks terminated flush or surface mount wall plates at the<br />

workstation area and in the Patch Panel in the MDF or IDF closets.<br />

• Patch panels mounted in the equipment rack/cabinet in the MDF or<br />

IDF closets.<br />

• All cables bundled and secured above the drop ceiling and fished in<br />

the walls where possible.<br />

Termination Hardware<br />

• MDF and IDF room horizontal (station) cables terminated on Category<br />

6 Patch Panels. Each data port location will be labeled and a number<br />

for each data jack.<br />

Horizontal Data Cable<br />

• All data cables are Category 6 4 pair UTP plenum (CMP) rated cables.
