Night noise insulation scheme
Heathrow’s residential Night Noise Insulation
Scheme is designed to help address the impacts
of night flights on the local communities around
Heathrow.
The scheme was introduced following the
Government’s conclusions for the night flights
regime, announced in 2006.
The scheme covers approximately 41,000 homes
around Heathrow, providing noise insulation for
bedrooms and bed‐sitting rooms.
Your options
The scheme is designed to offer choice and
flexibility to meet different people’s needs.
You can choose:
• 50% contribution for replacement bedroom
windows from the options available
or
• Free secondary glazing to bedroom windows
Plus, free ventilation and loft insulation as part
of the scheme. (Loft insulation helps to further
reduce noise disturbance).
What do I need to do?
We hope that you will take advantage of the
scheme. To do this, you can check your post code
eligibility and register your interest by completing
the application form at heathrow.com/noise.
What happens next?
We will review your application to confirm
eligibility. Once approved, a surveyor will then
contact you and arrange to visit you at home to
discuss your individual requirements.
We will arrange for the agreed work to be carried
out by well-known glazing firms with a reputation
for high quality products and services.
Who is eligible to apply?
Any resident of a property within the scheme
boundary is eligible, this is based on the noise
‘footprint’ of the noisiest aircraft regularly
operating between 11.30pm–6.00am.
If you already have double glazing and do not
want it replaced, Heathrow can arrange a free
home visit to identify whether your home’s
current insulation qualities can be improved
under the scheme.
