SALES IN OUR INTERNATIONAL COATINGS SEGMENT<br />
grew by more than 20 percent in <strong>2005</strong> as we expanded our offering of<br />
innovative coatings products, broadened our distribution, strengthened our<br />
market share and built our brands. As a result, profits in this Segment posted<br />
a gain of more than 30 percent for the year.<br />
In <strong>2005</strong>, we opened three new stores for a<br />
total of 74 company-operated stores in Chile,<br />
Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. We distribute<br />
the <strong>Sherwin</strong>-<strong>Williams</strong> ® brand, as well as<br />
other well-known regional brands, in 26<br />
countries through wholly-owned subsidiaries,<br />
joint ventures, licensing agreements and independent<br />
distributors.<br />
BRAZIL – An extensive overhaul of our packaging<br />
in Brazil was initiated to modernize and<br />
unify our brand image at point-of-sale and<br />
facilitate the decision-making process for the<br />
consumer, while maintaining a strong connection<br />
to the <strong>Sherwin</strong>-<strong>Williams</strong> heritage. The<br />
rollout began with the unveiling of our leading<br />
brands — Metalatex ® , Kem Tone ® ,<br />
Acquacryl ® and Novacor ® — at the premiere<br />
national trade show. Metalatex ® was recognized<br />
as the fastest growing brand of acrylic<br />
paint in Brazil in <strong>2005</strong>. In addition to the new<br />
packaging, three new products were launched<br />
