WELCOME!_____________________________
Welcome to the Toronto West Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship and
family. This weekend is the thrilling celebration of our youth in worship, and our
annual church picnic in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Today our worship is youth led
and youth focused. We had a tremendous ‘Restoration” service last night and
today is the continuation of the highest praise to our God and Saviour. To our
visitors a warm welcome is extended. If you are looking for a new church family
we will be happy to accept you into our fellowship. Please see one of the
deacons and they will assist you.
PASTORAL BLOG__________________________
Radical Youth by Pastor Frankie Lazarus
So I was on a train travelling from London to Leeds when I saw graffiti on
the side of a building. The picture was a cross with the caption “JC is awesome”.
And the debate began. On the one hand, cool, it got my attention; on the other
hand somebody probably broke a bylaw by defacing community property. Yeah, it
got my attention, but I couldn’t be certain how many people would be motivated to
pick up the Bible and read it or would their reactions be something like “there go
those Christians again, defacing the community….”, something like that. I’m
pretty certain the artist had good intentions and might even consider himself/
herself to be “radicals” for Christ. A wry smile appeared on my face as I debated
– to myself – the irony of the demonstration. And I began to think of how our
young people could be real radicals for Jesus in this “me” and “I” generation and
culture.
Look out for the seniors in our church and family and think of creative ways to
help them during the week – call them, or run an errand for them or just simply
visit and chat.
Next time you are with your friends and you see someone all by themselves,
invite them to join your group and include them in the conversation.
Get involved in the soon coming ADRA campaign to raise funds for those
who do not have what we have in our country. And you happen to be the kind
of person that loves to paint graffiti, why not find someone who needs their
home painted and offer to do it free. Raise the money amongst your friends (I
know you and they have money, I see the things you spend it on), and buy
the paints and do something really constructive with your talent.
The list is as long as your arm…. What God really wants is youth who will
be radical representations of Jesus! Go on, be a radical!!!
REVIVAL & REFORMATION___________
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom
ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 1 Cor. 3:5.
God’s servants do not all possess the same gifts, but they are all His
workmen. Each is to learn of the Great Teacher, and then to communicate
what he has learned. All do not do the same work, but under the
sanctifying influence of the Holy Spirit they are all God’s instrumentalities.
God employs a diversity of gifts in His work of winning souls from
Satan’s army.
“Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man
shall receive his own reward according to his own labor” (1 Corinthians
3:8). God, and not man, is the judge of man’s work, and He will apportion
to each His just reward. It is not given to any human being to judge
between the different servants of God. The Lord alone is the judge and
rewarder of every good work.
“He that planteth and he that watereth are one,” engaged in the same
work—the salvation of souls. “We are labourers together with God: ye
are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building” (verse 9). In these words
the church is compared to a cultivated field, in which the husbandmen
are to labor, caring for the vines of the Lord’s planting; and to a building,
which is to become a holy temple for the Lord. Christ is the Master
Workman. All are to work under His supervision, letting Him work for
and through His workmen. He gives them tact and skill, and if they heed
His instructions, crowns their labor with success.
None are to complain against God, who has appointed to each man his
work. He who murmurs and frets, who wants his own way, who desires
to mold his fellow laborers to suit his own ideas, needs the divine touch
before he is qualified to labor in any line. Unless he is changed, he will
surely mar the work.
Remember that we are laborers together with God. God is the allpowerful,
effectual mover. His servants are His instruments.—
