ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUEST
AGE DATA WANTED BY B&C, BUT NOT REQUIRED
In an effort to increase the relevancy and value of the Club’s records program, Boone and Crockett Club wishes to
obtain age data for your trophy, if possible, even though age data is not required. Records keeping is more relevant
to big game managers if B&C can supply them with age data. Age data also helps substantiate the contention that
most trophy-sized animals are well past prime breeding age. If you know the age of your trophy and the method by
which it was aged, please include both on the appropriate lines below.
The age of my trophy is: _____________
The age of my trophy was determined by:
_______ Sectioned Tooth.
_______ Tooth Replacement and Wear.
_______ Horn Rings (Sheep and Goats).
_______ Tagged Animal.
_______ Method Unknown.
_______ Other: ___________________________.
BOONE AND CROCKETT CLUB WILL DETERMINE AGE OF YOUR TROPHY
If you don’t know the age of your trophy, please consider sending a tooth from
it to B&C. In order to determine the age of a trophy, the first premolar is needed
for bears (Figure A.), the second premolar for cougars (Figure B.), and one of the
center incisor teeth (Figure C.) for all other categories, except walrus. Contact
the records office first if you have a walrus to age. You can also send us a lower
jaw for any trophy. (Please note that neither the tooth nor the lower jaw will be
returned as it is destroyed in the aging process.)
TOOTH SUBMISSION BY U.S. HUNTERS
U.S. hunters can send their teeth or lower jaw directly to B&C Club with their
other entry materials.
Attention
1. Send only teeth indicated in Figures A., B., and C. for each category.
2. Teeth that have been boiled and/or bleached are not acceptable.
3. Root tip must be attached to tooth.
4. Tooth must be cleaned of all flesh.
5. Mail tooth in padded envelope – not wrapped in plastic as it will rot.
6. Contact the records office at 406/542-1888 for instructions if you have a
walrus to age.
7. Tooth submission should be in a padded envelope marked with the name,
address, and telephone number of the hunter. Canadians must include a copy
of the license/tag.
TOOTH SUBMISSION BY CANADIAN HUNTERS
Canadian trophy owners cannot send their teeth directly to B&C without
accompaniment with proper export/import permits for all trophies and a CITES permit
for any bear and cougar teeth. This can be costly and complicated, so B&C has
established a collection point in Canada (see below). Teeth will be collected at this
location for a year and then forwarded to B&C with the proper export/import permits.
Costs for importing will be paid for by B&C.
Figure C.
intact root (either side).
Canadian hunters must send their teeth or the lower jaw to the following address.
address, and telephone number of the hunter, and accompanied with a copy of
the hunting license. Lower jaws should be mailed in a padded envelope or sturdy
cardboard box. Teeth will not be sent to B&C without hunting license copy.
