Every great revolution begins underground, where ideas rooted in shared cultural experience

shoot off in tangled trajectories, isolated from common denominator sensibilities and

marketplace pressures. But as the underside emerges, uncontainable, veins bulging beneath

smooth surface, Pop vernacular is turned inside out, exposed and worn as exoskeleton.

Ron English is one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary art, having exhibited

his unique sensibilities in museums and galleries worldwide for over twenty years. He has

created five art books and has appeared on television in six continents. He has been featured

in several major motion pictures, and has been the subject of two documentaries.

Ron English keeps Pop dangerous. In this exhibition he reveals a revolutionary heart beating

beneath common connective tissue, charting the true source of our fascination with the

human struggle and a modern Romanticism rooted in abject desire for sex, food, and the

passionate cycle of creation and destruction. It is an unrelenting, yet humorous and humane

expedition inside the body, mind and culture of desire.

From his many recontextualizations of Art History, to his signature images of Marilyn with

Mickeys, Abraham Obama, MC Supersized and assorted characters, each alive with

aspirations and back stories, English continues to create iconic, world-famous and instantly

recognizable imagery, utilizing the American symbology of his boyhood and the muscular

mastery of his craft.
