Jonathan Barnbrook<br />
Barnbrook is one <strong>of</strong> the most well-known creative<br />
studios <strong>in</strong> Brita<strong>in</strong>. Their team <strong>of</strong> designers specialise<br />
<strong>in</strong> produc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>novative books, corporate identities,<br />
CD covers, custom fonts, websites and magaz<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
Their clients range from <strong>in</strong>ternational museums<br />
to charitable organisations. Over the years<br />
Barnbrook have worked and won many awards<br />
<strong>in</strong> the area <strong>of</strong> motion graphics work<strong>in</strong>g for clients<br />
such as the BBC and Grey Advertis<strong>in</strong>g alongside<br />
produc<strong>in</strong>g self-<strong>in</strong>itiated projects. Barnbrook also<br />
releases orig<strong>in</strong>al fonts through VirusFonts that are<br />
used extensively worldwide. Their contribution<br />
to graphic design was recognised by a major<br />
exhibition at the Design Museum, London <strong>in</strong> 2007.<br />

Nic Benns<br />
Nic is the co-founder <strong>of</strong> Momoco, a Soho-based<br />
design and live action studio. Hav<strong>in</strong>g set up the<br />
company over a decade ago, he has been creat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and direct<strong>in</strong>g film title sequences, TV titles and<br />
commercials ever s<strong>in</strong>ce. In 1997, Benns moved to<br />
the US to attend the California <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Arts<br />
on a Disney scholarship and, after work<strong>in</strong>g for a<br />
few notable studios, set up Momoco <strong>in</strong> Hollywood<br />
before return<strong>in</strong>g to the UK to expand the company<br />
<strong>in</strong> 2000.<br />
His numerous film credits as title designer <strong>in</strong>clude<br />
An Education, N<strong>in</strong>e, Alien vs Predator, Love Actually<br />
and 30 Days <strong>of</strong> Night. TV title design <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />
Luther, Zen, Monroe, Silk, Episodes and Strike Back.<br />
Benns has also, with Miki Kato, produced and<br />
created motion graphics and endframes for<br />
over 150 TV ads. In 2010, his short film Copelia<br />
(starr<strong>in</strong>g John Stand<strong>in</strong>g, V<strong>in</strong>cent Regan and Ralph<br />
Brown) was screened <strong>in</strong> 11 <strong>in</strong>ternational festivals<br />
and won awards <strong>in</strong> various categories. He was<br />
also nom<strong>in</strong>ated for a BAFTA for the title design<br />
<strong>of</strong> Misfits (with partner Miki Kato). Benns has also<br />
given lectures on the conceptual process <strong>of</strong> film<br />
titles around the world at film <strong>in</strong>stitutions such as<br />
Pasadena Art Center, Maastrict Lumiere and Bafta.<br />
Stephen Conlon<br />
Stephen Conlon is a founder member and a former<br />
president <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Designers</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>.<br />
He holds a Masters <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Studies (Hons) <strong>in</strong><br />
International Market<strong>in</strong>g and Diplomas <strong>in</strong>: Exhibition<br />
Design/Effective Market<strong>in</strong>g Management/<br />
International Market<strong>in</strong>g and Market Research.<br />
Stephen worked for 34 years with Enterprise<br />
<strong>Ireland</strong>, <strong>in</strong>itially <strong>in</strong> the design and implementation<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Ireland</strong>’s overseas promotional programme<br />
and eventually <strong>in</strong> International market<strong>in</strong>g<br />
advisory. Stephen has worked <strong>in</strong> almost every<br />
developed and some undeveloped markets<br />
across the globe. He established and headed up<br />
the Enterprise <strong>Ireland</strong>’s Design Unit to promote<br />
design development strategies to Irish bus<strong>in</strong>esses,<br />
work<strong>in</strong>g with companies to redesign and re-launch<br />
exist<strong>in</strong>g products and the development <strong>of</strong> entirely<br />
new ones. The Design Unit was also responsible<br />
for establish<strong>in</strong>g Design <strong>Ireland</strong>, Stephen has<br />
spoken at a number <strong>of</strong> International design<br />
conferences on the promotion <strong>of</strong> design strategies,<br />
S<strong>in</strong>gapore, Sydney, Brno and Prague and Nagoya.<br />
In 2003 Stephen founded Design and Market<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Management Limited—a strategic management<br />
consultancy specialis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess and new<br />
product development.<br />
John Jenk<strong>in</strong>s<br />
John Jenk<strong>in</strong>s was brought up <strong>in</strong> Pembroke and<br />
is currently based <strong>in</strong> London. He graduated from<br />
the Furniture School at the Royal College <strong>of</strong> Art<br />
and has over 30 years experience hav<strong>in</strong>g worked<br />
<strong>in</strong> the fields <strong>of</strong> manufactur<strong>in</strong>g, retail and design<br />
consultancy.<br />
He has worked <strong>in</strong> a design or manufactur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
capacity with companies throughout Europe<br />
(<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Ireland</strong>), from the Baltic to the Balkans<br />
states, Thailand, The Philipp<strong>in</strong>es, Vietnam, Ch<strong>in</strong>a<br />
and the Caribbean. He currently works (part time) as<br />
Design Manager at the most preem<strong>in</strong>ent furniture<br />
retailer <strong>in</strong> the UK and also as an <strong>in</strong>dependent<br />
design consultant to manufacturers and sourc<strong>in</strong>g<br />
agents <strong>in</strong> the UK,Europe and the Far East.<br />
John has been a visit<strong>in</strong>g Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at various top<br />
level educational establishments <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
RCA, Kassel University (Germany), Cleveland<br />
<strong>Institute</strong> (USA) and the Sotheby <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> Art<br />
(London).
