Message from the Commodore

I’m so proud to be your Commodore right

now! This year’s Mackinac Race is one for the

history books; we your Board, the staff and fellow

Members have not heard anything but rave reviews.

Exposure to the media has never been stronger,

and our participation exceeded last year. This is

historically our off year for the Mackinac Race with

Chicago going second. Our sponsors are happy with

the deliverables that we have provided and “knock

on wood” all is going well. What an outstanding

year, you the Members of Bayview, should proud of

your Club.

As I was getting ready for the big race, I pulled

my boat only to find bottom issues. Members seeing

my dilemma offered my team and me supplies and

equipment to get me back in the water so the hoist

could be used by other Members attempting to

get ready for the race. So, to all the Members who

cheered us on and who helped out THANK YOU.

Summer is now in full swing, and our Club is

still busy giving you, the Members, programs and

events that will make you want to come and use

your Club with your friends and family.

As of this writing, ten boats from Bayview went

to Chicago and brought home flags, “way to go”!!!

Remember if you have cradles off-site at other

facilities, now is the time to get them to the Club, let

us know if we can be of help. Support your Club by

winter storing your boat here, where your friends

and fellow Members do.

Fair winds to you,

Commodore Jeff Henderson

Greetings from the Bayview Kitchen

August, the time of fresh sweet corn and

tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes.

Assuming, that is, that the drought doesn’t rob us

of our summer treats. Speaking of treats, due to

popular demand, we will be featuring prime rib

on the menu on Friday nights. So come on down

and indulge in one of life true pleasures! Also, we

have been regularly featuring an 8oz. Kobe beef

tenderloin. If you haven’t tried it, you owe it to

yourself to check out this incredible cut of beef. We

will continue to frequently have it on hand on the

weekends and occasionally during the week.

In other kitchen matters, many of our

cooking class “regulars” have been asking when

our next class will be held. During the spring I

had expressed hope that I would be able to hold a

class during the summer on a slow Tuesday night.

Fortunately/unfortunately, there seemingly has

been no slow nights all summer thus far. A very

busy season indeed. As soon as possible, however,

I will schedule a class. An email will be sent out at

such time.

With respect to this being an extremely busy

summer, it has been wonderful seeing so many

members and guests down at the club and taking

advantage of what is without

question the best view on the river/

lake. I look forward to continuing

to see all of you here at your club

for the rest of summer and into fall

and winter!
