Rope Skipping Championships
Hungary - Nagykanizsa 2011
Nagykanizsa
28 JULY - 2 AUG 2011
PROGRAMME

Péter Cseresnyés
Major of Nagykanizsa
Dear Sportsmen, Team leaders, Dear Guests!
Welcome to the European Rope Skipping Team Championships in Nagykanizsa.
Our town has the honour to host the best competitors of the continent, their parents,
trainers and fans.
Szan-Dia Fitness Sport Club has already organized many of prestigious international encounters
in Nagykanizsa. That makes me certain, our town is going to be an excellent host
of this Championship.
I know, everybody comes for the medals and success, but I also hope you might have
time to discover our town. We are very proud of our traditions, values and our citizens are
very pleased to host you. Nowadays we are always talking about the importance of sport and healthy lifestyle. I hope this
occasion motivates our town to do more sports, to enhance the “healthy Nagykanizsa”.
I would like to wish you good luck and a pleasant stay in Nagykanizsa.
Zsolt Fogel
Chairman of HRSO
Dear contestants, trainers, fans and members of ERSO,
Let me welcome you on behalf of HRSO at the 2011 European Championships. It is of
great pleasure for us that this important international competition, where the best of
this dynamically developing sport gather, takes place in Nagykanizsa again. Looking at
the international competitions of the recent years, I dare say that it is not only the best
of Europe but that of the world have come here to compete during the forthcoming
days.
This and the positive attitude towards the Hungarian jump rope sport must be the reasons
behind fact that besides the competition, the next general meeting of FISAC takes place in
our country as well, where a number of different cultures and nations are represented. It is a great honour for us.
I am convinced that Szan-Dia Fittness Club will be a great host of this event and at the end of the day each one of you
will go home with pleasant memories and ERSO will be more than satis ed with the organization and execution of the
competition.
I wish our judges good work, the spectators a pleasant experience and our athletes excellent results and fair competition.
May everyone have a weekend they expect it to be!
Richard Stannard
ERSO President
President’s Message - European Rope Skipping Organisation
Dear Athletes, Coaches, Judges, Parents and Spectators,
It is my pleasure, on behalf of the European Rope Skipping Organization, to welcome you
all to the 16th European Team Championships competition, and the European Camp in
Hungary. This is the second international Rope Skipping event that has been hosted by
the SzanDia FSC in Nagykanizsa. In November 2008 they hosted the European Masters
competition followed by an Ambassador Seminar for top European skippers.
In adherence with the presently valid international rule book, this year we have also included
a European Youth Tournament with the 12 to 14 and 15+ age divisions. Once again
the number of participants has increased to 35 teams from 9 countries competing in the Championships and 39 teams in
the Youth Tournament. With 500 registered people, this is the largest European event since ERSO was founded. We look
forward to two exciting competition days followed by the European camp, which will provide a platform for skippers from
the various countries to skip and socialise together and exchange their experience and tricks.
Although the athletes will no doubt be the centre of attraction during this event, I would rst like to express my sincere
thanks to their coaches, who have spent many hours of their free time training the athletes you see here this weekend.
In addition, we should thank the dedicated parents, for providing their sons and daughters with the support they require,
to enable them to perform their much loved sport and travel to competitions.
My special thanks go to the judges, for their commitment and fairness in deciding who are the best performers, and without
whom such competitions could not be organised.
Please also allow me to congratulate and thank the Hungarian Rope Skipping Federation (MUKSZ) and the Szan-Dia FSC for
their excellent hospitality and the inexhaustible effort they have spent in hosting this great event. It will no doubt be a
memorable one for all of us. I sincerely hope that everyone will thoroughly enjoy their stay in Hungary.
Finally, I would like to wish our athletes an exciting competition, dominated by good sportsmanship, as we look forward
to enjoy watching Rope Skipping at it’s nest.
Good luck to you all.

Team Competition Description and Scoring Principles
For each event, every country may enter up to 5 teams in each age division and gender category (Male, Female and Open).
Each team may have 4 to 5 members and in the case of the Open teams, both genders must participate in each event jumped.
Teams that jump all of the following 6 events will also be ranked in the Overall Team competition results. Teams that jump
all 3 Single Rope events will also be ranked in the Overall Single Rope competition and teams that jump all 3 Double Dutch
events will be ranked in the Overall Double Dutch competition.
1. Single Rope Speed and Double Under Relay: 2 team members each skip 30 seconds of “Speed Step” and 2 further
team members each skip 30 seconds of “Double Unders” (2 rope rotations per jump). The goal is to complete as
many successful jumps in the time.
2. Double Dutch Speed Relay: 4 team members each skip 45 seconds of “Speed Step” in Double Dutch (2 long ropes
being turned in opposite directions for the jumpers). The goal is to complete as many successful jumps in the time.
3. Single Rope Pair Freestyle: the goal is for 2 team members to complete a synchronized creative routine with as
many correctly executed skills at the skippers’ highest ability, using single ropes and within a 60 – 75 second time
limit.
4. Single Rope Team Freestyle: the same goal as in Pair Freestyle, but with 4 team members.
5. Double Dutch Single Freestyle: the goal is for 3 team members to complete a creative routine in Double Dutch with
as many correctly executed skills at the skippers’ highest ability within a 60 – 75 second time limit.
6. Double Dutch Pair Freestyle: the same goal as in Single freestyle, but with 4 team members.
During the speed events, each skipper’s jumps are counted by three judges and the results are averaged according to the
rule book. Due to the immense speed of the skippers, only the right foot “Speed Step” jumps are counted. The number of
counted Single Rope Jumps is multiplied by 3 and the number of Double Dutch jumps is multiplied by 2 to calculate the scores
for the speed events.
The 4 freestyle events are each judged by a jury of 15 judges - the Single Rope events by one jury and the Double Dutch
events by the second set of judges. In each case 5 judges rate the level of dif culty, 5 judges evaluate the creativity of the
performance and count misses and a further 4 judges look for variation in Single Rope events and teamwork in Double Dutch
events. The Head Judge also counts misses and checks for penalty aspects.
For each freestyle, the resulting averaged dif culty and creativity scores are added together and the misses and penalties
are deducted to calculate the nal freestyle score. Each individual event is ranked according to the points scored. The overall
ranking per team is the sum of the individual rankings.
2 x 1 Minute Double Dutch Pair Speed: This Competition consists only of this one event. Each country may enter up to 3
teams in each age division and gender category (Male, Female and Open). Two team members swing the ropes and the
other two each skip 1 minute of “Speed Step” in the Double Dutch ropes. The goal is to complete as many successful jumps
in the time.
General Competition Information
All competitions will be run in accordance with the FISAC-IRSF Rule Book 2009 – 2010 and ERSO Rule Book 2009 - 2011.
Each Freestyle music CD is to be handed to the sound system operator shortly before the corresponding freestyle.
All scores displayed during the competitions are unof cial. Preliminary results will be handed to the delegation leaders after
each competition. If no objections are registered within one hour, these results will become nal.
Information concerning the order of Freestyles during the competitions:
Two sets of judges will be present for all competitions. One set will judge the Single Rope Freestyles and the other set will
judge the Double Dutch Freestyles. On the following pages the teams in the individual competitions are listed in the starting
order. Single Rope and Double Dutch freestyles will be jumped alternately. The letter (A or B) between the score boxes in the
competition tables de nes the freestyle order of each team, resulting in the following freestyle orders:
• The grey shaded teams with A between the Double Dutch score boxes and B between the Single Rope score boxes
will jump both Double Dutch events rst, followed by both Single Rope events.
e.g. 101 Hungary 43 will jump the order: DD single, DD double, SR pair, SR team.
• The other teams with B between the Double Dutch score boxes and A between the Single Rope score boxes will
jump both Single Rope events rst, followed by both Double Dutch events.
e.g. 102 Belgium 43 will jump the order: SR pair, SR team, DD single, DD double.
The number above each Freestyle score box (e.g. DD1, DD2, ….. or SR1, SR2, ……) shows the order of the freestyles judged
by each set of judges.
Teams with grey score boxes are not competing in these events.
The names of the team members are shown below the corresponding score boxes.
Order of Events
The following double pages each show the starting order of the teams in the various events. Each of the four competition
blocks will start with the “Single Rope Speed and Double Under Relay” event followed by the “Double Dutch Speed Relay”
event. After a short break, the Freestyles will be jumped in the order shown and generally alternating between Double Dutch
and Single Rope.
Each 2 Minute “Double Dutch Pair Speed” event is a separate competition that will start shortly after the last Freestyle of the
corresponding competition block.
SZAN-DIA
F.S.C.
Our team was set up in 1989. In the beginning, we went in for
aerobics and gymnastics. In a changing world we have also changed.
Show dance has become increasingly important, especially freeshow,
s which is full of acrobatics, as well as fantasy, which requires
in addition to dancing skills stage-properties appropriate to the story.
We W have managed to become one of the country’s most successful
clubs. c Our young dancers have been all over the world. They have
been to Beijing several times, where they performed at cultural
events. In 2007, Szan-Dia represented Hungary at the Shanghai World
Youth Meeting. Our dancers’ performance at the show attended by
eight thousand spectators received special recognition. Our dancers
have participated in dance contests for years. They won one gold
medal at the World Championship in Rimini in 2007, three gold
medals in Pula in 2008, two gold medals in Barcelona in 2009, six
gold medals at the World Championship organized by our club in
Nagykaniz-
sa in 2010, and three gold medals
at the World Championship in Castiglioncello in 2011.
Our dancers have performed in many Hungarian towns and in several
European countries.
We got acquainted with rope skipping during a guest performance
in Austria. We found the spectacle fascinating and decided to go in
for this branch of sport. By now, due to constant exercising by our
rope skippers – who started with forward or backward cross turning
– we rank among Hungary’s best rope skipping clubs. In 2006,
our contestants entered for a competition in Canada. In the same
year, Gerg Hárs took the fth place at the Masters Tournament
in Denmark. In 2007, our demo team shared the rst place with
the Belgian team in Holland. In 2008, we organized a successful
Masters Tournament in our town, Nagykanizsa. In 2010, Péter
Horváth took the second place in Loughborough; Lilla Herjavecz
also took the second place at the Youth Tournament.
We are con dent that the European Championship 2011, to be held in Nagykanizsa, will be a
high-standard event. We hope our guests will achieve their goals and have a great time in Nagykanizsa, Hungary.
Szan-Dia F.S.C. wishes all of you every success.
