PREP Registration Deadline—August 31, 2012

Confirmation Information on Parish Website

Please check out the parish website (www.olguadalupe.org)

for information about confirmation requirements.

Seamstress Needed

The PREP program is in need of simple costumes (tunics and

head coverings) for upcoming PREP performances.

Reasonable fabric cost will be reimbursed. Contact the PREP

office if you are able to help.

Next Year

Confirmation Candidates

If your child is entering 6th grade

this year it is time to think about

Confirmation! Although the Confirmation

date has not yet been determined it is

never too soon to begin preparing. The

children should begin researching and

praying about what saint’s name they

would like to take. They will need to

complete a report on their chosen saint during the school year.

Details will be available once PREP begins. One way our

Church calls upon us to proclaim the Good News of Jesus

Christ is by performing acts of service.

In order to strengthen a Confirmation Candidate’s

commitment to a lifetime of service in the name of Our Lord,

our parish requires that the candidate fulfill 15 hours of

service. Service hours can be accumulated any time from

June 1, 2012 until January 31, 2013.

Children can share their talents and time with others

in many ways. Services include but are not limited to:

Thank you to our Recent Volunteers

for our Parish PREP Program

Our parish appreciates the time and effort all of our

volunteers put into our parish PREP program,” comments

Meg Szewczak, director of Religious Education at OLG. “I

especially want to thank the parish members who have recently

volunteered and who will teaching for the upcoming school

year—we literally could not offer this program to our children

without all of you.”

Teachers, Assistants and

Volunteers Needed

Have you thought about volunteering as a teacher, assistant or

PREP volunteer? Partial tuition reimbursements are available

to all volunteers. No experience is necessary, the PREP staff

will work with you to help you get ready to teach! Call Meg

Szewczak if you are interested.

The Parish is in great need of teachers

for the 2012-2013 school year. Teachers

are needed for every grade level for Monday

evening classes and first grade teachers are

needed for Tuesday evenings.

Visit the sick and/or the elderly in a nursing home.

Read to the blind.

Assist an elderly neighbor with chores (for free).

Volunteer at the local library.

Volunteer for a nearby Vacation Bible School.

Babysit non family members (for free) or altar serve.

Assist with clothing and/or food drives.

On the website you will find the Confirmation

Service Hours form which is due February 1, 2013. Please

use this form to record your child’s service hours. An adult

signature is necessary for the service to be valid.

If your child is an active altar server there is no need

to submit a service form. Please call or email Meg

(mszewcaak@olguadalupe.org) at the PREP office if you

have any questions.

to borrow during Mass to make it easier to hear the

is kept by the parishioner and should be brought to Mass

each week for use with the borrowed wireless device. Please

see an usher if you wish to use the hearing assistance device.
